Blooming BalconiesNew Orleans French Quarter Green and Colorful     The plants, flags, wrought iron and balconies give the French Quarter balconies a unique feel. As the seasons change so do the variety of plants. So many ferns and seasonal plants give the area a greenhouse effect. Many of the balconies are kept up by the condo association and the home owners. A Lot of pride goes into the upkeep.

Enjoying Your Second Home in New Orleans French QuarterTake a Walk Down Royal StreetSo Colorful and Seasonal       You can walk down Royal Street and go window shopping and see so many colorful things. The windows and flags change with the holidays and seasons. Mardi Gras  flags were waving when I walked this weekend. Always great to see the stores and all the people visiting New Orleans to see the stores and balconies. Owning a second home in the area and adjacent neighborhoods there are so many great walks to see so many colorful things. Each month it does look a little different.  The French Quarter Fest opened on April 6, 2017. There is a large variety of stages throughout the French Quarter with lots of local musicians and bands. Lots of Food, Drinks and Music filled the air on opening day. One of the many reasons people like to come to NOLA. This is a winner for the second home market.       The weather was great. The crowds were large. Benny Grunch and the bunch are all about "aint there no more". So many memories of New Olreans over the years. This was in Jackson Square at the Jackson Square  Stage.

New Orleans Warehouse DistrictMarch 15-May 17, 2017    Wednesday at the Square, sponsored by the Young Leadership Council of New Orleans, is a series of free outdoor concerts by well-known New Orleans and Louisiana artists that will liven up your spirits and maybe even get you into a dancing mood.     Lafayette Square is a Streetcar ride from most areas of town since it borders St. Charles Avenue. It is an easy walk from the French Quarter and all areas of the New Orleans Warehouse District. I always see past clients of mine coming to listen, drink and eat. Many are second homers who come to enjoy a variety of good times.    The concerts are free and you pay indirectly through buying food and drinks. The Concert is run by a non profit Young Leadership council. Almost all the concerts fe...

Most people that come to New Orleans to visit always come back.  Staying in the hotels in the French Quarter can be fun for a vacation.  However, some people that visit the New Orleans area have decided to buy a second home in this area. They come back for Mardi Gras, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest and sometimes to get away from the weather up north.       Second homes can be condos or doubles that line most of the streets in the Quarter.  Condos are popular for this reason because of the condo fees that can take care of the exterior maintenance and courtyard.   Also many of the condos will have wrought iron balconies.  The only thing that may be needing tending would be to water the ferns that hang from many of these balconies.     You can walk to the market or any of the many shops ...

Crescent Park in New OrleansAlong The Mississippi River         Edge of Marigny and Bywater Neigborhoods    The Crescent Park runs from Elysian Fields in the Marigny to Mazant Street in the Bywater Neighborhoods of New Orleans. The Park is 1.4 miles long, 20 acres and lies between the railroad tracks and the River. This was once an Industrial area of wharfs, Warehouses and manufacturing facilities.       The Bywater section of the park opened in 2014. The Marigny portion was completed in 2015. The Park offers some great views of the river and the downtown of New Orleans. It has a lot of natural landscaping and plants. It is very pet friendly. People love to walk, jog and bike in the park.      Later in the year the entire Crescent Park will begin to bloom with lots of colors and flowers...

Saint Roch CemeteryBywater/ Marigny NeighborhoodNew Orleans, La.      St. Roch Cemetery was founded by Reverend P.L. Thevis in 1874. During one of New Orleans’ Yellow Fever outbreaks, the patron saint of protection from epidemics, Saint Roch, was prayed to and was asked to protect the people of New Orleans during this epidemic. When nobody from the Reverend’s Church died of Yellow Fever, Thevis founded this Cemetery, as part of his promise to Saint Roch. He promised that if Saint Roch would keep his people safe, he would build a chapel to Saint Roch. This Chapel is now inside of St. Roch Cemetery.

Bywater Neighborhood in New OrleansSo Many Colorful Homes and DoublesA Very Artistic Neighborhood      The Homes along the Mississippi River in the Bywater neighbor are very colorful and artistic. The area also has many doubles. The Bywater stretches from the Marigny to the Industrial Canal between St. Claude Avenue and the Mississippi River. There is no other neighborhood in the USA that I know of.       The Neighborhood has changed in color and artistic homes in the last 20 years. It never existed like this in the 20th century. It is fun to walk and view all the homes and unique colors and changes that have been made to the homes. A Few Atristic Homes in Bywater,Very Unique and Colorful !

333 Julia Street #308Historic Warehouse District CondoJulia Place New Orleans,La. 70130For Sale $267,408Sold May 2019 for $258,000 Sold about 10-12 Units in this place        The Warehouse District is near the French Quarter on the other side of Canal Street. You have a lot of old warehouses that were converted into condos. The big difference in French Quarter Condos is that many will have parking and lots of amenities in the New Orleans Warehouse District. This is an example of one that I listed.         Julia Place was once a Bemis Bag Factory constructed in about 1896 near the Port of New Orleans. Now you have a lot of hotels, New Orleans Convention Center, World Ware II Museum, and places to eat and drink within walking distance. You also have the outlet mall a few blocks down the s...

Every year St. Patrick's Day in the New Orleans Irish Channel is celebrated on Third St. between Magazine and Constance streets.  Tracey's and Parasol's are the highlight of the party. They celebrate with a huge block party with entertainment, food, drinks and games.  All in Green. Green shirts, green glasses, green socks, green beads, green hair and any thing else left to the imagination.  You’ll find the entire block packed with people coming out of these tiny neighborhood bars.   Food and drinks are plentiful.  A great deal of locals show their Irish by dressing in kilts, dancing Irish gigs, playing games with their green beer.    Since 1952, Parasol's has been ground zero for St. Patrick"s  Day in New Orleans.   Tracey's was the original Irish  Channel bar established in the 1949.  ...
