Homes are lasting a little over three months on the market with a 95% list to sales price. Harahan Condos, Elmwood Oaks has a lot going for it! A great Place to Live! September 11th, 2009 Categories: Condo Listings, Jefferson Parish      The Elmwood Oaks Condos located in the Elmwood Business Park are in a class by themselves in the Harahan area.  They remain one of the better buys for a two bedroom condo in all of East Jefferson.  The common areas are what stands out to most people.  The landscaped grounds, large pool, tennis courts, ample parking, secure entrance, low condo fees, balconies or patios, storage areas and much more make Elmwood Oaks a winner.          The condos are tucked into a corner of the Elmwood area and are close to the many businesses and warehouses that call Elmwood home.  The area is an easy commute to town of less the 25 minutes and you have several ...

I Just listed this home in my hometown of Harahan, La. It is basically a bedroom community where dairy farms used to serve New Orleans. Harahan is 8 miles upriver from the city. People that live here stay for a while. The new Listing that I just got only had one owner. It was a new home in 1970. My brother-in-law lives two locks away and he built the home about 30 years ago. I ive about 8 blocks away and moved in in 1975 and more than half my neighbors are the same. all the kids have come and gone. How many places in the United States can say this. Harahan has several good schools, St. Rita School, Faith Luthern School, and Harahan Elementry. The services are great, the crime is almost zero, the playground has always been a great beacon for the kids. Is still ar area with all kinds of b...

One of the nice things about South Lousiaina is the great weather we have this time of year. It stays green from now until November. My ficus to the left made it though another winter and has grown thru the pot. The Azelias are in full blood. The Barlett pear in my neighbors yard is full of blooms. The japanese magnolias have finsihed blooming but the leaves are very pretty light green and enjoy being in the shade of the live oak in the corner of the yard. The soil here is great being about a mile from the Mississippi River which has depositied rich soil in my yard for thousands of years. Our water bills are very reasonable here costing about 40-50 dollars every other month whic is great if you water and have a gold fish pond. Just a taste of Louisiana in March of 2007. Harahan is s...

What makes your neighborhood a little different than most. The town of Harahan, La where I live is unique in that we Have the Mississippi River Levee and batture as an area of recreation as well as a flood control project. These were taken today and the water is low as it generally is this tiime of year. When the river is really high it is up to the bottom of the trees on the right. Its a grat place to roller blade, ride bikes, walk or jog. The path extends about 25 miles from Audubon Park in New Orleans to St. Charles Parish upriver. Got a nice photo of a runner about sunset from river road which runs along the Mississippi River off and on to Baton Rouge. Also got a photo of the local elementry school which is also unique. I have no idea who decided to plant the palm trees.Of course t...
