I honored my thighs’ commitment to Jenny Craig of Baton Rouge and showed up for my 2:00 pm appointment. While I would love to sit and chat about how much they weighed, it’s TOP SECRET! When I arrived at the center, I decided to be different and park on the opposite end of the clinic. I guess I should mention there were no available parking spots near Jenny Craig of Baton Rouge so I really had no choice. Isn’t it funny how sometimes we have no choice but to do things differently? So, while I’m making my way (differently) to the clinic, a new fancy boutique caught my eye. Fabulousness. I peeked through the window to see what kind of style they had and it definitely wasn’t my type.   While the boutique was definitely hip, the only possible way I could sport their clothing would be if I had...

At one point, I thought I was going to be my son's hair stylist. I mean, it can't be that hard right? You just pull the hair through your fingers and cut, right? Well, not so much. I cut my son's hair the first year and after accidentally nicking his ear, I put the scissors down. I'm sure he was ecstatic since he didn't have to walk around with gaps in his hair. Hey, I thought it looked pretty good. So, I have been on the hunt for different hair salons that are just for kids. Cooper hates to get his hair cut. He screams like it's the end of the world. Poor thing. I think the fact the sound of the buzzer scares him. It seems that going to a children's hair salon has helped. Most of them have cute little cars that they sit in while they get their hair cut. They also usually have cartoons ...

Well, I'm sure you know by now that I'm a book worm and I get all pumped up when it comes to learning new things. While driving my car, I always stay tuned to the John Tesh. I know, I'm a nerd. I admit it. I am a sucker for statistics and a nerd when it comes to hearing things that can improve my/your life.  The Best Times That Will Make Your Life Easier Making Touch Decisions- We've all come to a point in our life where we have to make tough decisions. The best time to make a tough decision is around 10:00 am. Why? This is because the brain area responsible for concentration is the most active two to four hours after you wake up. This is usually 10:00 am for most people. Your communication skills are always at their best in the late morning. So, do all of your tough decision making and...

If you are thinking about visiting or "relocating to Baton Rouge", taking a trip downtown should be on top of your 'to do' list. Ten years ago, downtown Baton Rouge was nothing more than an overlooked, underpopulated area that mimicked a ghost town. In 1998, "Plan Baton Rouge" was put into action to save downtown Baton Rouge, in hopes of bringing life and culture back to the area. Since the implementation of the plan, the downtown area has revived and continues to grow as one of the hottest places to visit in Baton Rouge. While there are several new and hip venues downtown, we cannot forget the historical places that have rightfully claimed their spot in history. It's easy to overlook the small pieces of the past due to the new age improvements but I find it hard to believe that anythin...

If you are interested in fitness and are relocating to Baton Rouge, know that you will (without a doubt) find a Baton Rouge gym that fits your needs. When searching for a gym in Baton Rouge, people usually gravitate towards those that offer specific programs, classes, machines, trainers and reasonable pricing plans. A number of women seem to be attracted to gyms that only offer services to and tailored for women. Personally, it's easier to get a good work-out without having to worry with being dolled up in make-up and glitter. The Woman's for Wellness Center has everything women need in order to implement a healthy lifestyle, if you are looking for the 'one-stop-shop'. Another alternative to working out in a fabulous, estrogen environment is Curves of Baton Rouge. Curves is a cool fitne...

You know, sometimes it’s tough to go at it alone. This is why we have support groups. “In a support group, members provide each other with various types of nonprofessional, nonmaterial help for a particular shared burdensome characteristic. The help may take the form of providing relevant information, relating personal experiences, listening to others’ experiences, providing sympathetic understanding and establishing social networks. A support group may also provide ancillary support, such as serving as a voice for the public or engaging in advocacy.”(wikipedia) There are many benefits of a Baton Rouge support group. The most important thing you will benefit from a Baton Rouge support group is support. A support group usually provides people who are in the same situation as you and unde...

At the age of two, breast cancer stumbled into my life. My mother lost her life to breast cancer at the age of 27. I grew up in fear thinking that I would never make it to 27. Now that I am 29, I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose my life so early. My mother’s death wasn’t your typical breast cancer story. It was malpractice. A family doctor goofed up, covered it up and lied to her. He told her to go live a wonderful life when he knew that she had full blown cancer. She went to get a second opinion. The next doctor saw what the previous doctor did and tried to cover for him. He said the same, “You’re health is great, go live a great life”. Both doctors assumed that she would die before anyone knew. I don’t remember my mother, thanks to the doctors who turned her away. She was ...
