We are supposed to blog about our KEYWORDS. My keywords are Indianapolis, Indiana, Marion County Indiana, New Palestine, Indiana, and all my wonderful surrounding areas. But in this case, Indianapolis fell very short of the needs of my family. I am posting about Mayo Clinic, because it is foremost in my thoughts as I wake each day. After several months of agony and pain, we, as a family (6 of us) drove to Rochester . We arrived on a Monday, and called for an appointment late Monday afternoon. We received that appointment for 9AM the next morning. Our first appointment was with a Hematologists. The hematology's department takes the whole floor of the Mayo building, as did the Cardiology Department and the Neurology Department. The rest of the time was spent taking blood draws, s...
And it means so much more to those clients we serve each day. It means having a good place that is secure and a place to raise your children, give them a good education, and have some control over your family life. It also provides a safe feeling for both parents and children. There is something to be said for owning it, even if it is with the bank. You can have pets of all sizes and shapes, you can plant a garden, fence your yard, add a room, and do most anything that you desire.(xcept for the HOA). Most of us have rented at one time or another. Apartment living is not for families, pets or freedom. Renting a home from a landlord will be almost as restrictive. You cannot paint, put in a garden or have a dog over 50 lbs, and not a lot of kids. The only advantage is if something ...
HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE WE HAVE HEARD THOSE WORDS? Our listing contracts now allow us to disclose the existence and terms of other offers. However, the image of our profession can be one of greed, manipulative, and dishonest. Yesterday my daughter, sold a home and there were two Buyers wanting the Carmel home. She advised the buyer agent that there were two competing offers, and they should advise their client that they Counter with their highest and best offer. One buyer exceeded the list price,With no contingencies. The competing buyer did not write the best offer, and had a contingency, subject to the closing of of another home. The listing agent gets a bad "rap" for doing their job. The public, seems To think Realtors, control how a buyer or seller will respond. That is so Not tr...

Long know as the Mt. Comfort Airport in Hancock County is now to become the Indianapolis Regional airport on Friday. Why the name change? So people can find it. The airport is getting ready for the visitors to the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis, They are hoping that visitors in their private jets will be able to find it. Board members said the Mount Comfort name has lost its identity and can be difficult for pilots to find on maps. They feel that being able to identify with the City of Indianapolis and Central Indiana will be of benefit as the area continues to grow. Indianapolis Regional is planned as a key landing and parking field for hundreds of private jets and other aircraft expected next February. The airport consists currently of 1,800 acres and has about 45,000 take off...
I can't raise my fingers to type. I have so much to do. I can't hold my head up. The top 2/3 of my brain is frozen. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I have the answer......................................................I am taking a nap for the rest of the afternoon. Don't call me.
The original plan was to have FOUR separate buildings for elementary, intermediate, middle school, and high school. The Southern Hancock School Board has now decided to close down the Doe Creek Middle School, which would eliminate the 4 tier system. But, only after investing $27 Million dollars to build the new intermediate school building. Starting in the fall, estimates show the district will avoid spending $300,000 to $400,000, that would have been spent on new teachers salaries and utilities for the new building. Who are these people? What allows them to decide that our kids need to be in four different buildings to get a good education? Now we have to have campus's for our school systems. What was wrong with grade school and high school? Even Middle school was a stretch. I ...
My daughter works for a local hospital in Indianapolis. She pays for her health care thru this hospital system. Last week she was sent to the EMERGENCY ROOM for treatment of a migraine that she could not break on her own. She was dehydrated, and the family doctor would not administer medication until she had more fluids in her body. Her blood pressure was low etc. Her sister took her to the emergency, where she observed many inefficiencies at her own hospital. She was given morphine to alleviate the headache. Later her Neurologist told her that the morphine probably worsened the headache. All of this is pretty normal stuff. However, she knows they SYSTEM well. Especially as to who pays, and who is treated free. Naturally, when she received a bill from her own hospital, her own...
It is not the money!. That is a byproduct of our job. It is not looking at pretty houses! It is about finding the "jewel" for that buyer who put his trust in you to help him make the right decision. After looking for a few weeks we looked at a home that was active taking backups. I quizzed the other agent on the status and found it worth our time to at least look at it for comparison. Of course, my buyer and I both fell in love with this property. 5 acres with 2 barns, a greenhouse, and fenced. A perfect spot for a young man to have his cows, raise a 2 year old son. There is more to his background that makes me want to watch over him like a grandmother. Back to the story................... We wrote a full price offer. totally realizing that the possibility of getting it may no...
I have been faced with many challenges in my life. I am totally aware that my reasons to "sweat" are no greater than the next guy. We all have burdens, some larger than others. My burdens have given me wisdom beyond my years. I don't know how that happens, but I assure you that it does happen. We all have those "anxious times". Big humongous crisis brings lots of sweat and worry. Smaller problems may bring the same anxiety. Maybe it is the old fight or flee response we are all tuned into. In any case, each anxiety brings me a big stop sign that halts the process. That does not solve the problem, but my mind plays out "what is the worse thing that can happen". It is a fast forward thing. Once I realize what the worst outcome of this flight can be I ask myself: Can I deal wi...
KCM Blog Like Comparing Apples to OrangesKMC is a good site for following the economy. They have great ideas, and if you subscribe $20/mo. There is a lot of content in their monthly presentations. they have slide shows and listing tools to help you along the way. My thoughts on this blog are that overall things are getting better. But, that is a mixed bag of messages to many in our city, and yours too. Ask me if the inner city neighborhoods are getting better. Probably not! Ask me if the "cookie cutter" homes are getting better? Maybe! But it is still a buyers market, and will be for the near and far future. If we are not priced to sell.......forget it. Posted: 04 Feb 2011 04:00 AM PST Over the next several months, there is going to me some confusion about how well the re...
My mortgage rep. His name is Mark Lewin. I met Mark about 20 years ago, when he came into my office as a newbie in the mortgage business. He at the time worked for Keystone Mortgage. He was quick to please, worked very hard, and was my right hand man whenever I placed a mortgage for my clients. It was very seldom that I strayed from using Mark, because he was always there for me. 20 years later Mark is still my mortgage guy. I stepped away from real estate for awhile, to do some investing, playing and so forth. When I came back Mark was my go to guy. I walked into his office one day, and he told his coworkers that I was the lady who helped him get his start. He and I are still have the same relationship we did 20 or so years ago. He is still that same go to guy. He is as hel...
Today, I am holding an open house at 278 Bear Hollow Way, Indianapolis, Indiana. Stop by if you can! Just what is an open house? It is an : Opportunity - to go fish....See the people. Opportunity - find a buyer. Opportunity - to solve a sellers problem Opportunity - sell your own listing. Opportunity - place a sign on corners for all to see for 3 days. Opportunity - to show the neighbors that I work hard for my seller. Opportunity - to get lesser priced listings, who may want to buy my listing. Opportunity - organize my thoughts for the past and present. Opportunity - do paperwork left untouched all week. Opportunity - plan for tomorrow and next weeks open house. It is all about attitude. I go to an open house expecting someone to attend. I go there with a good attitude and I plan ...
I subscribe to the KCM Blog. Today it was about buyers and sellers in the upcoming year of 2011. Growing families may look for a larger home. Others may be moving closer to family members. Some will be making career changes, and an empty nester may look to downsize. The need is still there. And because of the rapidly evolving housing market the vast majority will use a professional real estate agent. What clients want to hear and helping them price their home competitively can be totally opposites .Forbes, CNN Money, Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, CNBC, talk about a DOUBLE DIP. I am pretty sure they are not talking about ice cream. KMC is telling sellers, if a Realtor suggests a price less than you had hoped for, do not immediately cross them off as your agent. And if they can...
\I have to sell real estate sometime. But I keep spending my time blogging. I am doing it all the time. I think about it when I drive, I think about it in my sleep, I think about it when I shouldn't be thinking about it. Who responded to my post? Why did they not think it was as great as I thought it was? Wow. I am overwhelmed. I have some 36,000 points, how will I ever reach 900,000? I spend part of my day figuring what to Blog, another part trying to figure out what to say, and the rest of the time putting little thingys in it to attract attention. Does anyone feel like I do. How do all you seasoned veterans do it. At the rate of 35,000 points every six months, Let's see........................................If I figured right, It will take me 15 years to get to 900,000. ...
Maybe a horse and buggy will be in our future. Cars eat corn(ethanol) Horses eat corn too. I bet horses won't use quite as much and we could figure out what to do with the biproducts.(phew) Our money buys us less and less. Less gas, food, clothing. Where are the trains? What happened to mass transit. Indianapolis does not have it. Half our busses run with 1 or 2 people in them. Personally I love the little golf cart we drive around our apartment complex.
I will begin by telling you a few things that I have gained from my newfound friends: A wonderful feeling of belonging to a group that cares. Cutting edge knowledge that has been shared with me. A group to lose weight. Somewhere to share my feelings, both my public, and to you all privately. It is good to compare notes, vent, and ask questions. For those of us in the Real Estate industry, whether it be inspections, mortgages, title work, selling, listing, brokering, it is a great place. And there is so much more. I can't thank you all for sharing with me. Now tell us what you have gained......But first Merry Christmas to all and a much better New Year.
