Jasper, IN Real Estate News

By Kevin Breeland, CMB
The next six weeks.....well it started on June 26 and will end in early August. What on earth could I be talking about???? Spending the next six weeks with my Dad.   My dad will be 79 in August. In May, when I was visiting him, he watched me work from his kitchen table as I always do while I am there. You have to understand....there is nothing in Mart and we wait to go to the farm until late in the afternoon (too hot before then). He asked me if I work anywhere and I said yes. As long as I have internet connection and a place large enough to set up my laptop, scanner, and printer I am at work. This was his next question.....                                   I want to go to Montana for 3 weeks, can you take me? My dad, for as long as I remember, has never asked any of us for anything......

Jasper Indiana Homes For Sale Market UpdateThere has been a lot of information in the news lately about the real estate market.  Most of the country is seeing less homes being sold this year than in the previous several years.  In my recent experience and analysis of the local sales numbers, Dubois County and southern Indiana are not doing as poorly as many areas.  It is my opinion that our area, Pike, Spencer, and Dubois County, will continue to feel the effects of the slowed market into the spring of 2008 when buyers will start to shop again. Dubois County Real Estate Statistics From The Evansville Area MLSAs of 10-03-07:There are 298 residetial properties for sale in Dubois County with 171 of the homes having Jasper, Indiana addresses.  There is a $12,000 fixer-upper in Huntingburg o...

Jasper, Indiana is home to a wonderful restaurant the locals and visitors always enjoy.  High quality German and American cuisine is served.  I recommend potato pancakes with apple butter, the salad bar and kassler ripchen (pork chops).I recently had lunch at the Schnitzelbank with an old friend and two clients who have become friends. This blog is intended to show photographs of this area landmark.  Additional information about the restaurant, history, etc. can be found by clicking here: http://www.schnitzelbank.com.          The Schnitzelbank, proving once again that there is more than corn in Indiana.

You know those annoying jokes, photos, stories that your annoying friends, family, probation officer, etc. are always forwarding to you, I finally recieved a good one.  This is not my work so if someone has copyright on it please let me know and I will remove it with my apologies. The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Here are some facts about the1500s:Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell, so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. T...
