If you could pick one story from 2011...what would it be?  I'm in the midst of writing my last newsletter of 2011.  I've been thinking about it on/off for the last few days.  After a few hours this morning researching, this is the list I have so far in no particular order yet: Prince William and Kate Osama Bin Laden Gabrielle Gifford IN State Fair Japan Tsuami Steve Jobs/I Phone release Dan Wheldon US Troops leave Iraq IU beats Kentucky So I still need one more...lol...got any ideas.  I would really like a "happy" story...so I have already veto'd Penn State...I have enough sad ones in there already!  I did personalize it a bit to Indy...  :-) I am in the process of switching to Mail Chimp...I really like the stats it provides and the instant scrubbing of email addresses.  My new website...

If you're looking for the safest place to live in the nation, look no further than... Fishers Indiana! Fishers is the safest city in the U.S. with a population over 75,000, according to the CQ Press annual City Crime Rankings 2011-2012: Crime in Metropolitan America report. Combine this latest accolade with a No. 8 ranking on CNN Money's list of Best Places to Live, and Fishers Indiana is looking like utopia – or at least a really, really great place to live! The City Crime Rankings report is based on 2010 crime statistics of 405 cities in categories such as murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. Fishers had the nation's lowest violent crime rate for cities with a population between 75,000 and 99,999; no murders and only four aggravated assaults ...

Originally posted at My Fishers Blog The news for homes for sale in Fishers is getting gloomy. The last several months have seen declining numbers compared to prior years. It certainly isn’t the low interest rates, I saw 3.25% on a 15 year last week at a closing. It certainly isn’t seller motivation, I have seen seller’s give up way more than the average 5-7% on a list price. What is it then? Perhaps consumer confidence and with an election looming in 2012; I am not sure we will be out of this for quite awhile. The numbers for November 2011 showed an 18% decline from last year at this time. In 2011, 72 homes sold in Fishers compared with 88 last year and 123 in 2009! The stats are equally gloomy with the average days on market at 103 in 2011 compared with only 88 a year ago. The average...

Fishers, Indiana isn’t exactly known as a walkable community. Or is it? According to www.walkscore.com, a site that measures the “walkability” of cities throughout the U.S., downtown Fishers scores a respectable 71 out of 100, or a Very Walkable rating. Very Walkable means most errands can be accomplished on foot. And when you think about it, that’s true! Downtown Fishers Indiana is a very walkable community. From neighborhoods near the Fishers Town Center, including Sunblest Farms, Charleston Crossing, and Fishers Pointe townhomes, you can walk to the library, post office, pharmacy, a bank, a bakery, several restaurants, beauty salons, and gift shops, and Fishers Elementary School. Even Handel's Homemade Ice Cream! And with the addition in 2012 of an outdoor amphitheater and multipurpo...

It's hard to say which makes a visit to Twigs European Home in Fishers Indiana more fun: shopping the beautiful and unique home decor items sold there, or gawking at the beautiful and unique architecture of the home itself.  Either way, the place is eye candy and definitely worth regular visits. The design style and merchandise in Twigs features a definite European flair - from the English garden out front to the cozy but elegant cottage atmosphere inside. Who knew such charm existed in downtown Fishers? The building is deceiving; a rather plain facade houses a surprisingly spacious floor plan that's full of fun details like built-in bookcases, arched doorways, and a finished attic. As is the case with every great home decor store,  every inch of space in Twigs is beautifully staged w...

Among the most sought-after of all Geist Indiana waterfront homes are those found in the beautiful neighborhood of Cambridge, nestled along the southern shores of Geist Reservoir in southeastern Hamilton County. Although technically located in the town of McCordsville Indiana, Cambridge residents enjoy all the nearby amenities of Fishers Indiana, including Hamilton Southeastern Schools.   Cambridge, formally known as Springs of Cambridge, is known for its spectacular, custom-built Geist waterfront homes.  When it's time to get out and play, children in Fishers and Indianapolis have plenty of nearby options. And it's not just residents who appreciate the dedication of these communities to play. Both cities were named a 2011 Playful City USA Community by KaBOOM!, a national program that advocates increased outdoor play opportunities for children. Fishers furthered the KaBOOM! goal of providing a park or playground within walking distance for every child by recently opening two new playgrounds, one of which is a fully-accessible ADA playground at Brooks School Park. Indianapolis was honored for its innovative plans to convert abandoned housing and vacant lots into urban mini parks, which supports the KaBOOM! initiative to increase quantity and quality of play in a community.  Fall is in the air, and there’s truly no better time to visit Conner Prairie in Fishers. The interactive history park, one of Fishers’ biggest attractions, features live re-enactments, special events, hands-on science lessons and craft classes, and unique displays intended to give visitors a glimpse into the lives of early Indiana settlers. But, you don’t necessarily have to visit Conner Prairie to take advantage of the park’s beauty and special events. Several Fishers neighborhoods along Allisonville Road, such as Stevenson Mill, enjoy scenic views of Conner Prairie year-round. Not only do these homeowners have a spectacular view of the 800-acre park as they come and go from their neighborhood, but they can also enjoy Symphony on the Prairie performances and Fourth of July fireworks f...
