There is a Dog Park coming soon to Columbus Indiana. Months ago Columbus Parks and Recreation, surveyed the residents of Columbus Indiana for public opinion on creating a Dog Park for Columbus residents and their dogs. A space specifically for socializing, and exercise for the pets.  They had a signifigantly positive response from the survey, and later requested members of the community to form a Dog Park Association. They asked for volunteers and received a good turnout from the public, enthusiastic, to contribute of their time to form this organization. The organization was formed back in September, from the volunteer members who voted on the officers to form a board of directors. And then further form committee groups, to organize this effort and thoughts, compiling information, quote...

We've all had the experience where you drive up to a house and the clients don't even want to go inside. It's almost immediate "They start commenting before you park in the driveway." You may know the inside of the house shows much better, but you just can't convince them to spend the time to even go inside. Where lots of choices in housing are available to the buyer, why should they? Unfortunately many can't envision or visualize the potential? I can recall on many occasions prior to taking multiple courses on home marketing, when this did occur.  So here are some of the points I've learned since taking the training, and some that I believe are just common sense. We've all watched "Curb Appeal" on TV, and most of these ideas are easy, simple and inexpensive. Haven't we all learned some...

Sorry not the way that the current generation would interpret that title! But it does describe the life of a realtor very well, just in a different context.I know that I personally try to hook up with clients, friends, acquaintances, SOI, Prospects, colleagues and affiliates constantly. Its the nature of the beast. Not always personal, or business oriented, but just to do this or that, or shoot the breeze, maybe have lunch/dinner I've even done breakfast!!  But without hooking up, we have no business, its all about contact and communication.I know that I try to touch at least 10 people on a daily basis, just to keep in contact for a few brief moments, and some interesting conversation. Nine times out of ten, I may not even discuss real estate but I always plant a sub conscious seed, some...

Since its incorporation in 1919, corporate leaders for Cummins have made it clear, that Columbus is the home of Cummins.  Despite their never ending clear messages to the community, time and time again, rumours have often spread, keeping the myth that Cummins would abandon its home city. This past wednesday Cummins announced it would expand into yet to be built office complex in downtown Columbus and create 500 new jobs within the community. This news cannot be understated, the short term effect will certainly be profound. According to plans, the building should be occupied next year, and officials anticipate opening with full occupancy. That will bring an additional 500 workers to the more than 3000, who already work downtown. Cummins will account for a figure over 50% of those jobs sin...

A Real Estate Agent or is it Santa Claus seen on the streets of Columbus Indiana this past Christmas season?  This is the story of a life changing event for "Martin Dorgan", a Real Estate agent in Columbus Indiana that chose to give back to his community, and pay it forward.I still believe Santa Claus lives! Not the one always dressed in a red suit but the "Real One" that lives within me. You could be a youngster, middle aged or a downright old dog, and still believe in this wonderful ideal. Lets face it, it's ageless, timeless, and priceless, aren't all our memories and dreams?I chose to bring that fantasy character to life this past Christmas in myself.  Because I believe I gave life to this mythical and spiritual being. And by doing so, I gave my life purpose and I was rewarded by fe...

What to do if your home isn't selling in the current market or is it a hot selling season, but you aren't getting warm. If you haven't received any offers on your home you're probably asking yourself what is wrong? Maybe facing the question of whether to take it off the market. A house that goes too long without selling begins to appear "stale" and can actually damage your future chances of a sale. How long is too long? It's not an exact science, but there are some helpful indicators. In a dry market, a sales period of six months to one year isn't unusual. Look at recent sales reports of similar homes nearby to determine a reasonable selling interval. In a hot seller's market, a house that hasn't sold within one month indicates a problem. In either case, there are several steps you can t...

It's my personal opinion that the market is different! But it is still very much alive and active. There are pockets/price ranges that are selling like hotcakes, while others appear to be on slow bake. Now! According to our local newspaper, our local Real Estate Board, and some Brokers and agents in town, "The County is showing Positive Housing Trends, while the Nation over-all is in a slump. The article goes on to state:The country is in a slump that it hasn't seen in more than a decade. Bartholomew County is seeing rising prices and a steady pace of new home construction".[Source; TheRepublic]Five years of statistics from our Columbus Board of Realtors, and the County, show an overall strong local market.  Sales prices for single family homes in Bartholomew county have steadily increa...
