Schaumburg, IL Real Estate News

There's money in your old working second refrigerator. If you've got an older, working second refrigerator or freezer keeping your soda pop or ice cream cold, chances are it's an energy hog. In fact, most second refrigerators or freezers are 15 years or older and use up to 5 times more electricity than newer models. HISTORY OF WOODFIELD MALL                                                                               (updated 4/10/21)It's hard to imagine that in 1971 Woodfield Mall opened with just 28 specialty shops and three department stores. Now, it houses nearly 300 stores and restaurants with five anchors and is the core of the entire northwest suburbs. Woodfield is named for former Sears board chairman General Robert E. Wood and Marshall Field and Company founder Marshall Field I. It debuted on September 9, 1971, on 191 acres of prairie land, previously farms, cows, and a village tavern. Singer Carol Lawrence, actor Vincent Price, and two marching bands entertained at the debut. By the end of September 1971, another 28 stores and restaurants had opened and that first business year finished ...

Oh No ..... not Zillow! One of my past clients recently was called into his investment brokers office to go over his account and obviously make any future battle plans that were necessary.  This has been a trying time for anyone with any kind of investments and offering a shoulder to cry on was the actual topic of the meeting.  After going thru all the various accounts, the planner came to the 'real estate portion' of the program and gave my client the value of his home.  $209,000 .....  REALLY?   My client asked 'how do you know what the value of my house would be?'  Now the planner obviously did not know at that time this client was about to become my seller again and sell his home.  We had already checked out all the comparable sales in the neighborhood and we had already set a listi...

Had to pass along this great story about 'Tinker Bell' the 5 lb. Chihuahua belonging to Dorothy Utley of Michigan.  Poor Tinker Bell was lifted up into the sky by a violent storm and carried away.  After a fruitless, two-day search, a pet psychic told Dorothy Utley to go to a wooded area a mile away, where she found the very hungry but frantically happy dog! Is that a crazy story or what?  And I'll just throw in the the moral of the story: don't let your dog watch 'Wizard of Oz' in a storm!   *Courtesy of 'The Week' publication 5/8/2009.

Lexington Green - Schaumburg ILI have a lot of buyers in the Schaumburg Area ask me 'What is a coach home or a manor home anyway'?  It all started with Lexington Builders on the eastern edge of Schaumburg somewhere around 30 years ago.  A 'Coach Home' is simply a different name for a 'quad' or group of 4 homes put together.  In the coach home layout there are 2 homes on the 1st floor and 2 homes on the 2nd floor.  Then 2 of these groups of 4 are put together for a total of 8 and 'voila' the coach home!  Some other builders in the area also spun the name 'Manor Home' but it is the same concept. (Building Plan attached below for the truly curious). Lexington Green is a large coach home community located off Meacham Road just south of Schaumburg Road on both the east and west sides of the ...
