Marengo Market Trends for March 2015Marengo home sales for the month of March rose in volume by 50% when compared to last year, while the median sale price rose by 48.8% from $102,500 to $152,500. The number of Single Family homes sales rose by 66.7%, while the median sale price rose by 29.5% from $117,950 to $152,750. I talk with people weekly about the incentives given by the government to encourage people to buy homes.  So many are confused about the extension of the tax credit.  They seem to have much mis-information. Below is the current, and correct, information regarding the tax credit: How much is the credit? For 1st-time buyers the credit is equal to 10 percent of the cost of the home up to a maximum of $8,000 (or $4,000 for a married individual filing separately). For longterm homeowners, the credit is equal to 10 percent of the purchase price up to $6,500 (or $3,250 for a married individual filing separately).  So keep this in mind as it is not a guaranteed $8,000.
