How I could go to Maui and be completely unaware that it is 3 hours behind us in Sacramento is a puzzler. But when you think about it, I generally only go to the islands in the winter. In the winter, Hawaii is not on daylight-saving time, so it's only a 2-hour difference. I imagine there are many others like me who did not realize that Hawaii does not observe daylight-saving. I read a response to one of my blogs from my agent friend in Sacramento who said she likes to go to Maui because it's only a 2-hour difference so you can get all your work done in the morning. Surprise, Myrl, guess what? It's 3 hours in the summer. But one can still get all of her work done in the mornings. While I am away in Maui, my husband did the most incredible thing for me. He texted me a photo of my desk at home while I was lounging on the beach with Barbara. You might say, hey, what were you doing with a cellphone on the beach, and I would say that what happens in Maui stays in Maui. Besides, maybe I want to shoot a photo of the cabana boys hauling the sailboats to shore. You never know. The photo had me puzzled. There was something rectangular shaped on my desk that I did not recognize. Something else was different, too. Oh, yeah, the round AirPort Express, which is probably 10 years old, was no longer hanging on my wall. It had been replaced with a new device. He was pretty smart doing this while I am in Maui because if he tried to do it when I was working at home, I'd be driving... 07/07/2014

The Wailea resort area in Maui is a place where one could dine out every night for 3 weeks and always go to a new restaurant. Although, once you find a few restaurants that you like, it might make more sense to try other dishes than to continually seek out new restaurants. It's also an enjoyable way to end a fun-filled day from so many beach activities such as should I lie on my stomach, on my back or perhaps raise the back of the chair a little bit to read. So many choices, I tell ya. Sashimi Sunset at the Molokini Lounge, Makena Beach and Golf Resort   Makena Beach and Golf Resort is one of our favorite places to escape to for a one-nighter vacation on Maui.  Happy Hour at the Molokini Lounge includes some nice appetizers for a good price.  The sashimi trio was very enjoyable while watching the sunset last weekend.  Makena is where we first fell in love with Maui, and perhaps each other!  Cocktail hour overlooking the sparkling Pacific Ocean, nibbling on nature's bounty, listening to some live island music.  What a wonderful time.  That's what's happening at the Molokini Lounge on any evening.  Check it out when you're in the area. I am not sure how much in the way of 4th of July fireworks and celebrations we will see today since we are in Maui. It's not like the natives from this island fought for independence from the British. Nobody has ever said that to see the real America you need to go to Hawaii. I don't see anything remotely similar to America in Hawaii, and I imagine the Hawaiians like it that way. It makes sense to do more Hawaiian things in Hawaii. Which is why we decided to drag ourselves off the beach and actually go somewhere today, although god knows why. I am perfectly happy on the beach. When we go down to the beach at The Fairmont in Maui, we need to sign out an umbrella. I am not certain where they think we might run off to carting a really heavy beach umbrella, but they have cabana boys who will set up the umbrellas for you and weight them in place with sandbags, after attaching your name to the umbrella. I really don't want people reading my name on an umbrella. They do things differently at Four Seasons. The last time I stayed Four Seasons was on the Big Island. There, the beach umbrellas were already in place but if you wanted to rest under an umbrella, you needed to pay extra for that privilege, something like $50 a day. Our plan for today is to go to the beach. It took us a while to come up with that plan, too, seeing as how we are sitting on our wrap-around balcony staring at the ocean and wondering what we should do today. So many options. So much to do. So little time, this lounging about stuff. After all, yesterday was incredibly busy. We walked a good 25 minutes down an oceanfront path to the Grand Wailea to go shopping at the shops of Grand Wailea. Then, another 5 or 10 minutes along a regular road with traffic to find the Shops at Wailea. We weren't sure which direction to turn, and there was nobody else on the road to ask, unless we flagged down a moving vehicle, and that was the point that we remembered, hey, we have our good friend, Siri. My clients just closed on their new home in 371 Pualoa Nani in Wailea Maui.  They have been patiently waiting to find the right home at the right price.  Above is one of the new owners Sandra and myself windsurfing at Kanaha Maui having a board meeting.   Beachfront home on Keawakapu Beach, Kihei Maui Hawaii Saw some incredible South Maui real estate yesterday on a Wailea Makena Tour of Homes... this was the first time the event was organized and it was a very ambitious affair!  I have to say it must have been a lot of work getting it all organized, and hope it will become a regular event.  More on all that later, but just want to post a few quick pics and try some new techniques here on the old blog.
