Throwback Thursday: Sabrage for the Sunset in KauaiSabrage is a ceremony where a bottle of champagne is opened with a sabre, harking back to Napoleonic times in France (well, that's what Google says!). There is even a special sword - a Champagne Sword - often used for sabrage. The St. Regis Hotel in Princeville, Kauai, celebrates the sunset every night with this ceremony which we enjoyed a number of times (most recently in 2017). The sunset, and views from the St. Regis, never disappointed! 02/11/2021

Throwback ThursdayRainbow in Princeville, Kauai  Like many, we miss the opportunity to travel because of the pandemic...well, we COULD, but... and have recently been talking about our past trips to Kauai and Maui, and how nice it would be to just pack up and go. Aloha from Princeville Kauai!This week was a tragic one as a 23 year old CA woman was swept out to sea from Queen’s Bath in Princeville. Her body was never recovered.It was interesting reading some of the comments on FB. Several people said they had been to Queen’s Bath and didn’t have any problems when they went, a few said they thought the warnings were to stay off some property adjacent to the trail and still others said they simply didn’t regard the warnings as valid.Despite signs saying that people have died at this location, people continue to think that the expression of danger is an “overstatement” of the actual conditions and/or that they will be “more careful.” Unless and until our visitors realized that warnings posted at several areas through the Island are in fact, an accur... 12/09/2018
