Yes, I love many Professional Home Inspectors here on Oahu.  They will do their job inspecting the home and give their sound professional advise through the walk through with the buyers. There are some inspectors who go as far as to say, “This window screen clip is a minor repair and it’s not a deal breaker, but it’s something to keep in mind”.  There are others who don’t say a word and let the buyers think they shouldn’t be buying a piece of crap. Yes, I love to work on the other side of a seasoned real estate agent. But you take an inspection with many little things compounded with an uneducated real estate agent, the transaction falls out of contract. They concur with the report and take the ‘recommendations’ of getting screen clips as ‘damaged property’. There is NO perfect house th...

MY VERY FIRST REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION Was I nervous of my very first Real Estate transaction?  To say the least!  Real Estate verbiage is a whole different language let alone trying to put that verbiage into use. A spiel doesn’t just come naturally and for a new agent it is hard to say that they should put their trust into me to sell or purchase a home.  I was brand spanking new! Lucky for me, my first client was a friend’s brother!  He was retired military and he was relocating with his family to Hawaii from Georgia. He was going to work at his now civilian government job at Hickam AFB. LUCKY LUCKY ME!  He was willing to put his trust in me and gave me the chance! Who was going to help me with my first transaction?  If just so happened that the townhouse they chose to buy was my Broker...

I just got off the phone with my daughter. She and her grandmother don’t get along in the kitchen. (no one gets along with my mom in the kitchen lol) Obviously, both want to take part in the Thanksgiving Dinner preparations and both don’t agree on how they can accomplish this feat....TOGETHER. Rewind many years back. We learn from our parents.I learned a long time ago that I cannot fight my mother on anything,  She is ‘old school’ and she is NOT going to learn any new way of doing anything. She is oblivious to change because change doesn’t happen unless she is the one wanting to change something. (and boy does she want to change everyone around her lol) I made a 180 degree life turn around(I found that a 360 degree turn around kept me doing the same things over and over lol) over 16 y...

I am ever so longing to be able to attend on the NAR conferences, a CRS Sellabration or even just attend an ActiveRain Meetup in a big city with many of our members attending.   Okay, so that doesn’t always work out in my favor. L tell you what, it’s just as exciting when an ActiveRain member comes to vacation here and I get to meet them!   One such event I felt may not happen was my planning with Dawn Maloney for a meetup. We had storms and not such good weather but I got a phone call from Dawn saying, “We’re in Mililani”.  Oh, wow, she was coming to the office to meet me!    Sure enough,  a few minutes later I see a taller gentleman holding the hand of his companion…who looked like Dawn. Awww, it was just as her picture and in they walked with him holding the door for her! Enter…Jay...

I went through the drive through at bank the other day in Mililani Town and out of the right corner of my eye I saw something moving.  I turned towards the movement and what do you know; a little pack of chickens following their rooster!                       I drove to the other side of this little ‘harem’ of sorts, and they seemed oblivious to my movement of taking their picture. I sat in my car with the engine running and observed for a few moments. A few more snaps and I went on my way….as did they. An uncommon site in Mililani indeed!

While visiting some friends today in Mililani Town at the Mililani Golf Course, I came upon this bird feeder. The doves were literally on top of each other trying to get at the seeds. A lot of the seeds went to the ground, but the birds didn't care. They wanted THAT seed that was in the dish. Did you know that I once helped "stage" the first home models at Mililani Town in Hawaii way back when, when they first went on the market? In fact, my daughter and I were in some print advertising, looking like happy homeowners. There was a long waiting list of people who wanted to purchase a home in this new development. Because I worked for the company, I was put at the top of the list and I ended up purchasing a townhouse and lived there for well over a year. I then moved us into town when my d...
