What's for sale right now in Olinda Maui?Olinda is a region of upcountry Maui that's located above the town of Makawao.  If you drive up Olinda Road from the crossroads with Makawao Ave. you'll go up past the Oskie Rice rodeo grounds and Seabury Hall campus.  It's a delightful drive along a winding road that climbs higher and higher amidst towering eucalyptus trees and open pastures. At the very top is the Waihou Spring Forest Reserve with hiking trails through the pine trees.  The road then turns back down and becomes Piiholo Road which eventually comes back to Makawao Ave. by the St. Joseph's Cemetery.  It's about a 10.5 mile round trip that only takes a half hour or so.  You'll see beautiful scenery and vistas, and some amazing homes and country estates.Go trail riding in Olinda Maui... 04/29/2018

Best on Maui.  One of the best places in upcountry Maui for dancing would be Casanova Restaurant in Makawao, right on the corner of Baldwin Ave. and Makawao Ave. 1188 Makawao Ave.  Call them at: 808 572-0220History:  It all started in 1986 with the Casanova Deli which was a bit hit and soon expanded into the full restaurant next door in 1989.  Authentic Italian food and coffee was just what this area needed. Fresh Smoked Pork from Makawao - a roadside treatIf you're looking for some fresh smoked pork, made from wild mountain pigs, look for this sign across from St. Joseph's Church in Makawao, Upcountry Maui.  Lucky me I spotted the sign today and pulled over.  For $20 I got a nice 2 pound bag with lots of smoky greasy strips of pork.  The flavor is so good, with natural smoke and other seasonings. Straight from the mountain, into the smoker, and onto my table... I like that.  This is how we do "sustainable food" on Maui.What can you do with the smoked pork?  Eat it many ways: heat it up on the grill and slice into bite size pieces for great pupus. put some into lau laus along with some beef or chicken.
