We have updated information regarding the opening of the Avenues of Forsyth in Cumming.  We recently heard from an owner of a chocaltier store opening up in the Avenues that we may begin shopping on May 17th.  That is just around the corner!  I've personally noticed the quick improvements to road construction directly outside and in front of the new Avenue Mall.  Appears that we will have multiple lanes of traffic up until you get to the Ingles on the other side of GA400 (Bethelview Rd).  What a relief - glad to see that traffic will not immediately bottle-neck at the lights getting on/off of GA400 (north/south bound). We will keep you updated if we hear any other imperative information regarding the Avenue shops!Welcome HomeThe Sherry and Maria TeamSherry 678-283-1710Maria 678-548-5513w...

We just heard that the Avenue of Forsyth will have a delayed opening.  The road construction on Hwy 141 (Peachtree Pkwy) directly in front of the Avenue of Forsyth has not been completed, therefore the stores will not be opening on time.  There is a tremendous need for the lane additions directly in front of the Avenue shopping because otherwise, the roads will not be able to hold the influx of cars the new shopping is about to bring to this area.  The shops will wait to open until this much needed road construction is complete.  Estimated completion will be mid to end of May 2008.  We will continue to update you as we have more information.Welcome HomeThe Sherry and Maria TeamSherry 678-283-1710Maria 678-548-5513www.SherryandMaria.comDouble the service...Twice as many reasons to let us...

Patriotism is part of the culture of Cumming, Georgia. With sincere appreciation, the community came together to honor the veterans which live in this area. Veterans Memorial Blvd is located in the heart of the downtown. The city of Cumming commissioned Sculptor Gregory Johnson to create a Memorial to honor the brave soldiers who lost their lives in wars serving our country. The grounds feature a ladder back chair with boots which hold a dog tag of Forsyth County citizen who served in the Vietnam War. Draped over the top of the chair is a soldier's uniform and helmet. On ceremonial day a US Flag joins these bronzed pieces. The inscription of the Memorial is as follows: "Realizing anew, the full portion of sacrifice paid by the Sons and Daughters of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia, in ...

Cumming's July 4th parade is the largest display of steam engine tractors anywhere in the world. The parade started when A.G. Thomas showed off his restored 1912 Case stream traction in 1958. People were drawn to see that tractor and hear the steam whistle (which sounds like a train whistle!) blowing over and over again. The following year the first official group of steam engines and grain threshers paraded through the courthouse square.  Today, members of the community stand shoulder to shoulder to see and hear these wonderful historical tractors.Teresa Johnson & Associates; RE/MAX Greater; Serving the Metro Area of Atlanta,GA http://www.atlantahomestore.com/(770) 888-0021;  TeresaJohnson@remax.net

Cumming, Georgia was founded in 1833 and first chartered in 1845. The town was first surveyed in 1833. It is located forty miles north of Atlanta. State Route 400 leads north from Atlanta into Forsyth county. The land for Cumming was part of the 1832 Cherokee land lottery. The Cherokee territory stretched across what is now Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Floyd, Forsyth, Gilmer, Lumpkin, Murray, Paulding and Union counties. This land by a lottery system was distributed to Georgia families. The land was mainly used for agriculture. The name comes from an officer from the War of 1812. His name was Col. William Cummingand he was born July 27, 1788. Wm Cumming was a distinguished  Georgian who graduated from Princeton (at that time was the College of New Jersey at Princeton). He studied law at Gould...

So we all hear all day long from the media that homes are not selling.  Speaking from someone who is out selling homes in this market - homes are selling.  The Sherry and Maria Team just listed a home for sale in the South Forsyth high  school district in a community tucked away directly behind the high school, called Woodland Park.  Priced at $470,000, the home barely sat on the market as we are under contract within 4 days.  Did I mention that we were already showing that home to buyers prior to listing the home for sale?  That's incredible ... especially in this market.Thought you would be interested in local real estate stats from the past 3 months.  Before you review the stats, I'll go ahead and give you the bottom line.  Homes are selling... we have more pending sales presently th...

I  read all the time, anything related to real estate or finance are the two areas I really enjoy.  I ran accross another Re/Max Agents list of ten things that stop and home from selling and thought it was outstanding.  So I received permission to reproduce on my blog - I would love to get others thoughts after you read this:Paul Pastore's with RE/MAX (of Chandler Ariz.) provides the Top 10 Ways Sellers Can Guarantee Their Home Won't Sell: (reproduced with Authors permission)1. Be casual, not serious, about selling. A sage once quipped, "Money is only important when you don't want something enough." Real estate expert R.L. Brown said that if half of the 58,000 sellers in Maricopa County removed their for-sale signs we'd be at normal inventory levels. Actions speak louder than words in t...
