Homes In Roberts Point On Siesta Key, Sarasota, FL.    Roberts Point on Siesta Key is named after Captain Louis Roberts and his wife, Ocean Hansen Roberts who established their home on Siesta Key (formerly Sarasota Key) in the early 1900's.  At that time the island was known more for its mosquitoes and wild critters and their was no bridge to the mainland. In 1906 the Roberts transformed their boarding house on Siesta Key into a hotel that catered to wealthy Northerners and celebrities.  Such luminaries as Cecil B. DeMille, Bette Davis and Charlton Heston were guests.  The next year Captain Roberts and two partners formed the Siesta Land Company.  They renamed the island to Siesta Key at that time and platted Siesta Key Village.
