Tai Chi to Prevent FallsIn May, I wrote a blog “Preventing Falls in the Home” addressing the statistics that The National Council on Aging reports every 11 seconds an adult from age category of 65+ is treated in the emergency room due to a fall. Many of my real estate customers are searching homes for sale in Active Adult Communities in the St. Augustine area and so these statistics were of great significance to me. In researching ways to prevent these falls, I found it interesting that Tai Chi was mentioned by several medical organizations as beneficial in reducing the number of falls.Harvard Medical School noted the benefits of improved balance and muscle tone with studies showing Tai Chi reducing falls in seniors by up to 45%. The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) ...

Thinking about buying a new construction home? I've helped over 500 new construction home buyers in Northeast Florida find the right property, saving each and every one a good bit of money along the way. Here are a few tips I wanted to share with you if you or anyone you know may be thinking about buying a new construction property. Always use an agent - This is of no cost to you, so it should be a "no brainer"! The builders agents, despite being polite and helpful, look out for their employers best interests. Shouldn't' somebody be looking out for yours? A good real estate agent can guide you through the entire process - from finding the right community and home, through the contract to the closing table. This is so important to do that the builders actually put aside money to pay for ...

The FHA home loan has become the primary mortgage choice for many first time homebuyers in St. Augustine. The FHA loan program offers several benefits, keeping in mind the budget constraints of most homeowners who are interested in buying their very first home. Compared to most conventional mortgage loans, the FHA loan facilitates the buying process for the applicant. Furthermore,  the FHA loan involves a very low down payment, which makes it easier for homeowners to meet their budget constraints.   Secure fixed interest rate– One of the biggest advantages of the FHA loan is the provision of paying a fixed 15 or 30-year rate of interest. Compared to other traditional loans where the interests vary, the interest rate remains the same for the entire course of the loan. This period is usua...

Whether we are looking at a home in Orange Park, Jacksonville, or St Augustine, there is a universal truth. I can't sell your home if I can't even see it. Too often we find that homes have overgrown trees, bushes, or hedge rows. Sometimes, particularly in 1970's homes, the bushes may be even sparse because they have lived past their healthy life expectancy and are now holding on by only a few leaves. Selling your home is all about making great first impressionsTypically when a potential home buyer is interested in the property, they have found it online. There you only have seconds to make a good first impression.  The next step, often before they have even contacted an agent, is the drive by. Potential home buyers will drive by the home, in their excitement, and determine if they want ...

St. Augustine Key Realty I am very excited to share the news that I have decided to put my broker’s license to work by opening my own broker/owner real estate company - St. Augustine Key Realty! I launched my brokerage for the opportunity to grow and explore new avenues in the real estate industry that will benefit all of my customers. The future of the real estate business looks very different from its past and I am invigorated by the challenges, technologies, and possibilities available. This fresh start has energized me and given me an excuse to look deeply at the real estate marketing and practices I have relied on in the past and compare that to what is necessary in the current market. My insights into the current market derive from the experience I have gained in the past working ...
