I read an interesting article today in regards to the TDC (Tourism Development Council) and spring break.Once again, the TDC appears to be marketing to spring breakers.  While others may not see the benefit to this tactic, I certainly do.Other tourist oriented cities market the spring breakers constantly.  During the spring break weeks, those cities (as Panama City Beach has in the past) experience significant increased revenue generated by the college students.  This is a win win situation for the local economy as well as the real estate market.Spring breakers eventually graduate from college, get jobs and want either to settle down somewhere or purchase a second home.  Many them, having fond memories of spring break in Panama City Beach Florida, choose to return and purchase their hom... 11/12/2007

I read an interesting article today in the news herald... Danny Grizzard, director of Florida Aquatic and Marine Inc. and Mike Gomez co-owner of the Panama City Dive and Ski Center both support the sinking of the decommissioned tug boat - Red Sea. The site is planned to be located about five miles off the St. Andrew Bay pass in 75 feet of water. Read the full article. Personally, I can remember as a child in north central Alabama, aka Birmingham, that Panama City was the summer reward for managing to get through another year of school, without having to attend summer school.  Not being the brightest candle in the chandelier, I didn't always make it, but I can say that for the years I did make grades high enough to keep me out of summer school, Panama City was the reward that permanently embedded the most  beautiful memories in my head.  Like the Panama City pier, and the fishing.  As a youngster, one is entitled to snag bait, because one doesn't own a rod heavy enough to challenge the big fish such as King Mackerel, Cobia (Ling), Amberjack, or even a good sized Bonita, and even if one did, little fellows would have a most difficult time bringing in a... 09/25/2007

The condominium inventory is starting to shrink as people take their units off the market. In July of 2006, the number of condos on the market was 3021. That number has dropped almost every month sense. As of June of 2007 the total number was 2125.  The lower priced units are selling and overprices units are expiring.  The market is correcting its self.  07/14/2007

Panama City beach is happening, Believe it or not.PANAMA CITY BEACH - Completed just in time for the summer blockbuster season, Pier Park's new 16-screen movie theater will open later this month, a Southern Theatres spokeswoman said Wednesday. Company spokeswoman Jane Birdwell said the 3,200 seat Grand 16 multiplex officially will open May 18 at noon.
