This is the ceiling of a home I recently inspected. The previous homeonwer fancied himself a roofer and thought county permits were a waster of money. Metal roofing is quite expensive and when installed properly can last a lifetime. When done incorrectly, can ruin a home very quickly. I walked the roof first and noticed the DIY installed the metal roof backwards, allowing water to run straight in at every seam. The entire home was rife with moisture stains which tested as active leaks. This is an example of the deterioration caused by a poorly installed roof.   05/05/2010

Some five weeks I got an unusual contact through Activerain. The potential buyer wanted to relocate from Pine Island to North Fort Myers. ECHO ( Education Concerns for Hunger )This place is located in North Fort Myers and if you haven't been there it really is an amazing place.  They are a nonprofit organization and they develop ways to grow food in 3rd world countries.  I'm not sure exactly how they do everything, it is very scientific but they do cross pollination a lot.  They developed large trees that grow extremely fast and can grow in booth dry and wet conditions.  One leaf off this tree contains more potassium than a whole banana!  They have a plant that looks like a small maple tree that the leaves taste like raspberry, a grapefruit tree with grapefruits the size of watermelons.  They actually let you buy many of these plants there and the money goes to charity.  They grow plants on roof tops, they run dirty water... 09/13/2007
