Recycle your Phonebooks at Stop n' Play I think this is a great service they provide especially considering how behind the times this area is when it comes to recycling.  Just put your old phonebooks in your trunk.  And I am sure one day this month you will find yourself passing it on US-19 in Port Richey. U.S. Highway 19 in New Port Richey Florida When driving on U.S. Highway 19 please be careful!  Before anyone asks... I took these picture while my husband was driving:   U.S. Highway 19 is considered one of the deadliest highways in the United States.   According to a Dateline NBC study, part of US 19 in Florida is the most dangerous road in the U.S. A Florida Highway Patrol test period 1998 to 2003, as mandated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, showed the stretch of US 19 from Pasco County to Pinellas County to average approximately 52 deaths a year or 262 deaths in the 5 year duration of the study. 100 of these deaths were pedestrian related making US 19 the worst road to walk on in these two counties. The SPCA Suncoast in New Port Richey has lots of kittens for adoption. They are all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and waiting for a home. This week the SPCA is having a special: Pay for one kitten and they will give you a second one to take home as a companion. Or, if you only need one kitten (remember cats are like potato chips....you can never have just one), the kittens are half-price this week. There are all kinds, and all colors, boys, girls, lots of choices. Homes closings were stronger in Trinity, New Port Richey, Hudson, Holiday and Port Richey in June due to the $8,000 sales tax credit. Home buyers needed to be under contract by April 30th in order to qualify for the Tax Credit. Home pendings since the end of the Tax Credit have definitely decreased. Most of the 568 still pending should have closed by June 30th, but did not due to the overload on the banks. Fortunately, Congress has extended the closing deadline for those people who were in contract by April 30. The extension is now until 9/30/2010. 07/02/2010

Hiking in New Port Richey Florida One of the best qualities of New Port Richey Florida is access to hiking. There are many opportunities to hike throughout Tampa Bay Florida. I spend some of my weekends hiking. One of the best hiking trails is the Key Vista Nature Nature Park in New Port Richey Florida. There is no entrance fee to hike. I would rate it a difficulty level of 2 out of 5. As always check with your doctor for a health check up before undertaking physical activity such as hiking. Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL  has 14 leopards living at the facility. I never realized there were different varieties of leopards but they are all absolutely beautiful creatures. There are snow leopards, black leopards, and golden leopards. Watch the video and look for Adonnis: he is absolutely gorgeous. Big Cat Rescue in Tampa posted this cute video today of their kids eating, chasing, dunking watermelons. I was very surprised to hear that big cats even like watermelons but I guess it's just another ball to play with; then you get to eat it.
