Loxahatchee Groves Florida Real Estate News The Administrator of the town of Loxahatchee Groves stated that the most important things on the Loxahatchee Grove town’s agenda for 2010 are: The Comprehensive plan being completed Land Use Regulations in place Before that can be accomplished the Loxahatchee Groves town has to settle the law suite that was brought against them by Callery-Judge Grove over the town’s comprehensive plan regarding traffic patterns on Okeechobee Blvd. Once this is resolved the town of Loxahatchee Groves will be able to finish up their land development regulations. Back To Bethlehem- We had an a wonderful experience that was not only uplifting spiritually but a top notch real live history lesson of the times and setting of the town of Bethlehem at the time that Jesus was born there.  At first I did not realize how immersed this experience was going to be. The added blessing was it turned into a field trip for our son who is 7 that we homeschool. He is doing a project on what he learned there and now we are delving more into the history of the day.  Each year there is a church called The Community of Hope Church that is located just a few minutes from Wellington Florida in a town called- Loxahatchee Florida, that puts on the Town Of Bethlehem re-inactment. Palm Beach County Proposes Equestrian Community. Palm Beach County voted to approve a horse community to be built on the Mecca orange groves the county bought for the Scripps Research Institute that did not come to pass in our county.This land is located in the Loxahatchee area in the Western Communities of Palm Beach County Florida.   The county commissioners voted for the following proposal: Sell the land to a developer who will build 192 homes on that land Build a 40 acre Equestrian Center The remaining 960 acres would be set aside for open spaces and environmental restoration. The county would recoup $56 million which will be about half of what they spent on buying and preparing  this land from Mecca Farms when they thought that Scripps was moving to this location. The Loxahatchee Groves Council voted and approved to a contract with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office for the amount of $250,000 per year to maintain the current level of coverage of the new Loxahatchee Groves town. The town had first considered a $500,000 package for 24 hour full time protection but reconsidered and decided on the lower amount. They will not have an office in town right now because the Town Of Loxahatchee Groves would have to cover the expenses of the office. Some residents wanted to know why they were not getting full time coverage. But the council replied with the fact that they did not get incorporated for more police protection but to protect the rural country living residents enjoy. The agreement is in effect now. After long meetings and two years of discussing the future of the farmland west of Royal Palm Beach ended with the county commissioners on the advice of their attorney scrapped the 2005 Comprehensive Plan. The State of Florida planners have not yet approved the Sector Plan and now the plan is in court waiting for a judge to decide.  The county and the state have different ideas as to how to develop the western area of the county. The state says the county should do more impact studies and research. The county says that by this scrapping of the 2005 plan gives them the chance to start all over again and decide what type of building should go on in the western farmlands.  Landowners of large parcels are not very happy with all of this mess. Loxahatchee Groves is a western community adjacent to Wellington Florida and to the west of Royal Palm Beach, Florida. It was part of Loxahatchee which is an unincorporated part of Palm Beach County until it voted to become its' own little town, municipality. Loxahatchee Groves consists of mostly 5 to 20 acre parcels of land with horse ranches and plant and tree nurseries. The people who live here are very protective over their privacy, their freedom to live the way they want to and to prevent developers from coming in and building communities.
