In these unprecendented times of corona virus, life, as we know it, has seemed to come to a halt.  All non-essential businesses are closed, many of them mom-and-pop shops.  Even some larger ones are shuttered up.   Stay in place orders has everyone at home (or supposed to be.)  We've never experienced anything like this in our lifetimes. Real estate has been pretty quiet except for some homes that were under contract before the pandemic.  Some people have taken their homes off the market; others are worried about people coming in.  But, still sales going on.   It's just different.  We start with virtual and then progress to visit, but only with booties, masks and gloves and no opening anything.  Most people understand and are okay with it.  Truth is, if you're looking to buy, it's a gr...

Fireplaces & Home Safety This Holiday Season House fires can happen at any time. Creosote, or condensed smoke, builds up on the flue and can catch fire. An annual cleaning and inspection can help prevent chimney fires.  Keep flammable items at least three feet from heat sources. According to the National Fire Prevention Association, 56 percent of fatal home heating fires ignite from items being placed too close to heating equipment. Make sure everything is a safe distan...

How To Make A Real Estate Sale In Any MarketWe all have been told that until the home closes no money changes hand. This of course means your listing has to be completed from the seller to the buyer. Below are a few suggestions to make sure that happens and happens in the least amount of time:         Be on time whenever possible in other words never be late.         Always and I mean always ask for the order.         Make sure all decision makers are present and accounted for.         Know all the ins & outs of your      clients expectations.         Always tell the truth.         Be competitive, but be honest.         Always follow-up quickly.         Know your market.         Maintain a high standard  on and off the field.         Be willing to walk from the order.         Learn to s...

The law of accumulation basically says......???  that achievement is the result of constant and perpetual effort.  Everything you have done throughout your life negative or positive multiplies over time.  With a quick illustration on money it works something like this. We all want to be rich, but even the rich unless inherited started out by saving something first. Putting away just $3.00 a day from the age of 20 until you were 65 and receiving a return of 9% over those years you would be a millionaire. You would have saved $43,800 over those 40 years and the law of accumulation would have done the rest.  The same goes for prospecting, but it doesn't happen overnight. You have to prospect for at least 90 days before this LAW kicks in. The key is 90 days because it takes this long to acq...

Market Minutes For The End Of The Week Of April 01, 2016  This week Fed Chair Janet Yellen expressed concerns over the health of global economies. Markets reacted favorably to the news, which was good for rates. Consumer spending is up, but overall inflation remains soft. The Fed is not likely to make policy rate changes until later in the year. This may bode well for mortgage rates too.  The labor market remains strong although wage growth is a concern. Jobless claims were up slightly but well below the 300,000 mark of a healthy labor market. Pending home sales hit a 7-month high in February, reversing January's decline. The increase bodes well for a strong spring season for the housing market. Tight inventory remains an issue but is helping to drive home prices up. The Case-Shiller in...

INFOMORNATION THAT HITS US WHERE WE LIVE & BEYOND ...FOR THE  CHRISTMAS WEEK  First, the good news, then the best news. The good news is that last week, for the first time since 2006, the Fed raised the Funds Rate. Yes, that's good news.  It means the nation's central bank thinks the economy is now growing well enough to withstand a rate hike. And that's good because the economy is the most important factor influencing home sales and prices: a growing economy means a healthy housing market.  It's also good the increase was just 25 basis points, a very small jump to 0.25%-0.50%. Freddie Mac's chief economist said, "We take the Fed at its word that monetary tightening [meaning rate hikes] in 2016 will be gradual." Furthermore, interest rates for revolving credit, such as credit cards and...

How To Determine How Much My Home Is WorthWhen you think of your home as a place where a family is raised and memories are built, then it’s like those popular VisaCard commercials on television: Your home’s value is “priceless”. But when it comes to how much your home is worth to potential buyers, then things get much less sentimental. It’s the “market value” of your property that determines how much it will sell for, not your personal feelings. Market value is simply the price that similar properties in similar neighborhoods are currently selling for. If you were to list your home on the market today, you could expect to get somewhere close to that figure. Even if you’re not planning to sell your home in the near future, it makes sense to get an update on its fair market value. Your ho...
