The 4th Of July has come and gone and what a day it was! It dawned hot and sunny ans stayed that way! Local events began at 11am with the Neighborhood Raft Regatta. Everyone had lots of fun, and some got pretty wet. As you can see, there was a great turnout. It is the time of Year In South Florida where nature really shines. We have gotten a lot of rain recently so everything is blooming and lush right now. These are some of my untrained/uneducated observations of the fantastic variety of flora in Lake Worth and South Florida. The Royal Poinciana Tree. Vibrant and colorful, these trees are a beautiful addition to any landscape. I have noticed that they begin to bloom near the end of spring and keep blossoms for quite a while.     Lake Worth has them everywhere. From private homes to wild on the side of the road and everything in between. In general, the Royal Poinciana has a large canopy that provides tons of shade below. This past weekend was the 16th annual Gay Pride celebration in Palm Beach County and Lake Worth. Estimates of attendance are at 12,000, the largest yet! The theme this year was "There's No Place Like Home. This brought out some fun costumes....  And here are the rest of the crew....  Of course there were the Politcal groups as well...  And then there were the local businesses    This one gets a honorable mention... Don't you think?  The weather was a bit gloomy and we did have some rain but it was a successful parade anyway. Ladies and Gentlemen! Let me present the Lake Worth Street Paining Festival!      This annual event took place the weekend of 2/21 and 2/22. It has been estimated that more than 100,000 people attended the two day event that literally puts art on the streets. Hundreds of artists including local students and children particpated and their work was wonderful. The crowds were huge and it was a lot of fun! As you can see from the pictures below, it was busy!     The artists all work with pastels and only have the two days of the festival to complete their painting. LAKE WORTH INLET As a Realtor with clients to service, I've been doing what I'm supposed to. Today, I've decided to take the time to find out what the other Realtors are experiencing and I find we share a lot of the same situations. I've always been know to be someone who could get it done. I know how the buyers should be negotiating their offers, but they need to know the fair market value and to be shown the current comparables. It's taken the last year to get the sellers to finally listen, now we have to educate the buyers who think they can make a 'steal.' The First Schoolhouse in the town of Lake Worth Florida was built at 414 Lake Avenue currently the city hall annex in Lake Worth. The city hall also is home to the Lake Worth museum. Downtown Lake Worth is about 20 minutes east of Wellington Florida and the Lake Worth beach is just over the bridge from Downtown Lake Worth. You can get to the Lake Worth beach quite easily from Wellington because you don't even have to make any turns. Just get on Lake Worth Road from South Shores in Wellington and stay on Lake Worth Rd east all the way until you get downtown. How simple is that! This First Schoolhouse was built in 1912. Howdy Folks. It is the week after thanksgiving and I am still stuffed! The holiday decorations are going up all over and need to do mine. Our fair city has been adding decorations to what seems like every light pole. The Central Square called the Cultural Plaza has a Christmas Tree and festive lights in the natural trees. My broker has even gotten our office decorated. I am lucky to work at a office that is located in a historic home in the center of town. It is a very warm and inviting place to be. Yay!!!!!! The election is tomorrow. We can finally be done with all of the stupid commercials saying all kinds of half truths about the other candidate! All of the people running for election are to be commended for getting out there and trying to make a difference. That is better than just sitting around, griping about things I just can't wait to be free of the discourse from this election year. It seems to have been very contentious and debilitating. It will be nice to be back to the routine. Hopefully whomever ends up in office will hit the ground running. Won't you be glad to to get someone fresh in office. The dawn of another Halloween has come and it looks like a great day in South Florida. There will be a costume contest for the children in the Cultural Plaza, Downtown Lake Worth, this evening. It looks like it will be very cute.   Every 1st and 3rd Friday there is a party in the Cultural Plaza called Evening on the Avenues. There is live music, food and vendors. It is always very lively and a nice end to a week. Tonight's should be even better. I went out showing houses to a customer yesterday afternoon. Some of them were as scary as today's holiday! All were in some state of duress. They were either a short sale or a foreclosure. several had no kitchen at all. The main thing they all had in common was that they were all inexpensive. It is a gorgeous day in South Florida. Lake Worth at least. It is a bright sunny day and it isn't so hot that you want to stay inside in the air conditioning. Nice clear sky too. Which makes it all the worse that I have to sit at my desk looking at it go by. Now you could take the stance that at least I can see it.
