Like Jimmy Buffet sang about being a Pirate too late, your Conchquistador still has a bit of Buccaneer in him!!   As most of you are aware, this crazy Government shutdown has forced the closure of Everglades National Park, the source of livelihood for many of our local fishing guides. These poor guys are taking it in the proverbial shorts!! And if the Guides aren't making money, they don't go to restaurants, spend money, and so on and on it goes with the financial ripple, that can even, eventually affect real estate in the long run.   So, what is a Pirate like me supposed to do??? Will FHA and HUD Be Affected By Government Shutdown? The government shutdown is in effect for the first time in 17 years but, for the time being, reverse mortgage loan, insured HUD and FHA, will largely remain unaffected. The shutdown came as a rude awakening for many government workers, and tourists who hoped to visit Yosemite National Park during its birthday. The Department of Housing and Urban Development, however, was already prepared for the worst when they released a contingency plan yesterday, September 30, the same day the changes to the reverse mortgage program changes were implemented. Sounds like I'm hawking sodas and dogs at the ballpark. Numbers, Numbers, Get Yer Florida Keys Real Estate Stats Here! Though I don't sell Red Hots, I Do sell Red Hot real Estate!!  Yes, yes, I know. That one was Really bad, but hey it's 4 pm on Friday, and I'm itching for a Conch Colada to start the Weekend off right.   (BTW, Conch Colada.... Wow, talk about an Honor! I had the distinct pleasure to meet one of my true inspirations, my new Friend, Dr. Guy Harvey! The Heavy Hitters have come to Play!!! In a matter of days, two properties in the $2Million range have closed in Key Largo!!! Hows THAT for your 1% !!!  I just hope that we don't get an Occupy Key Largo movement. As the Keys are certainly the best and SAFEST buy for national AND international Buyers right now looking for fun and sun and all that goes with it, more and more of our $1million+ homes are disappearing.  In fact in our office for the month of July we saw that 30%  of our pending and Closed Transactions transactions involved foreign Buyers, including buyers from Europe and South America.
