Tucked away in the strip mall that is anchored by Walmart and Winn Dixie where Eau Gallie meets A1a is a little restaurant called Thai Thai Bistro. After working a long day yesterday I stopped in to pick something up for dinner on my way home. This little place was completely empty so I didn't have long to wait for my beef and vegetables in green curry.The aroma on my way home was heavenly. My dinner consisted of white rice with the curry in a separate container. The taste of the green curry was delightful. Unfortunately, that's as far as it went. The vegetables in the curry were all old and wilted with a mealy texture. I love fresh, crisp, snow peas and those in this curry were barely recognizable. They were stringy and simply in-eatable. Locals may remember the Rum Island Grill. It was a pricey and somewhat pretentious eatery located at 490 E Eau Gallie Blvd in Indian Harbour Beach.  Originally it is called the Rum Fire Grill, but it changed it's name to Rum Island Grill, reportedly because of copyright infrigement or something like that. In any case, it recently closed and I had been wondering what was going go take it's place.Question answered! The Winn Dixie store on Eau Gallie and A1a is having a sale on Hass Avocados.Yesterday when I walked in, they were selling for $1.25 a piece. Tucked away in a small, slightly obscure location on South Patrick Dr just north of Gleason Park is the Too Cool Cafe. Located on the edge of Satellite Beach and Indian Harbour Beach this funky little eatery appears to have formerly been a service station. I shared on Tuesday about how nice it was to see the little car with eyelashes on my way to the office. Last night I had another precious encounter. I stopped into the local Lowes store in Indian Harbour Beach around 7:30pm. I walked into the store and was walking past the outdoor furniture section when I saw something out of the corner of my eye that made me stop and look. Sitting there on one of the outdoor patio couches was a very real cat IN THE STORE!  I stopped and said hello, and slowly approached the beautiful and petite feline. I woke up this morning not exactly feeling 100%, so I stopped off at No. 1 Chinese to pick up some soup for my tummy. As I pulled into the parking lot to run in and get my soup, I pulled right in front of this happy little car. I don't exactly know why, but she immediately put a smile on my face. So I am always willing to share my favorites...fav pizza place, fav BBQ, fav Happy Hour...etc... Well my favorite sandwich shop by far is Doubles Beachside in Indian Harbour Beach.First, a little history. Doubles Hoagies opened in 1983 (across the street from the present location). It was a small sub shop that (from someone who came once a week back in the 80's) was always packed. I was very happy when the new Doubles opened. It is a very large space that has plenty of tables, pool tables, a bar inside the sub shop as well as a separate tiki bar that opens at night.The hoagies (subs) are really good...with plenty of meat. Happy Healthy Human, an organic market and cafe, closed down in September much to the consternation of those of us that loved this little whole in the wall place. Happy Healthy Human was the local place that I could go to and find oddball things like organic Kale, seed crackers or healthy, tasty, ready to eat organic salads. Unfortunately, the front staff at Happy Healthy Human  were often slow, poorly trained and had very little personality  if any. The POS system was confusing and slow for the staff. Because of this, stopping in for anything  was rarely a quick in and out visit. I would imagine these issues to be contributing factors in this organic store closing it's doors. We have quite a few Italian restaurants here on the Space Coast.Over the years we have had a large influx in people who have moved to the Space Coast from the Northeast. Along with them comes the taste for New York style Italian food.Brano's Italian Grill has opened their second location here (the original is in Cocoa Beach) in Indian Harbour Beach (The exact location is 1940 Hwy A1a, Indian Harbour Beach, FL 32937). Brano's has good food and some nice daily specials, but what will make them stand out is the large outdoor patio that is a wonderful spot for enjoying our awesome Space Coast weather. Amici's Beachside Bistro has by all appearances been a very successful venture. The Indian Harbour Beach venue always seemed to be busy. The outdoor deck is popular; it is large across the street from the beach and has it's own bar. Then suddenly, I drove by this past Monday and the sign was gone....what?I drove by again yesterday and there it was...a new sign for Brano's Italian Grill. You may remember my blog about Brano's Italian Grill in Cocoa Beach. As it turns out, Amici's Beachside was successful, but according to their Facebook page, the owners received an offer from Brano's that they just couldn't pass up.  The July 2015 market report for the Indian Harbour Beach/Satellite Beach area (MLS areas 381 &382) showed strong upward growth. One disappointing aspect of the Space Coast has been the truly abysmal lack of good Mexican food. After living in Colorado for over 30 years and vacationing in Jalisco, Mexico regularly, I have been very disheartened by the lack of a really good  Mexican restaurant here! Not any more!I used to say that the best Mexican food Beachside was a my house! I may have to change that opinion! My friend Alan and I  had tried dining at Fiesta Jalisco  previously, but it was so busy we ended up at Amici's Beachside instead. I've blogged about Coasters Pub & Biergarten in the past. This is a great Indian Harbour Beach pub that is pet friendly. Heck, the people at Coasters Pub & Biergarten are just plain friendly all the time! Well, this coming weekend from March 6th through Sunday March 8th is the 6th annual Coasters Pub Belgian Beer Fest.
