Hold Hands 4 Haiti ~ Saturday, Feb. 20, at 10 am on Fleming Island Raised over $25,000! Thousands of Fleming Island and Clay County residents joined together to Hold Hands 4 Haiti in an effort to feed 1,000,000 Haitians in the devastated country of Haiti. The event had a lofty goal of holding hands from the Drs. Lake bridge to the Black Creek bridge.  Volunteers showed up starting at 10 am and at 10:45, everyone held hands. A photographer from the Times Union was among us, along with a plane flying over to videotape the event for Fox News. FISH Ministries will use the money to help feed the Haitians in the area they have been working for the past 30 years. Congratulations to all the Fleming Island residents who showed up and who donated money to this worthwhile cause.

To Podium.  This is a 'new' verb in the Olympics.  It's interesting to see how language changes over time.  Interesting to see how all things change. For example, a friend of mine has a friend who thought they may want to 'go back' into real estate.  I was trying to explain that it's a brave new world out there.  But I think she does not believe me.  After all, social media.....short sale (and the legalities with the process)......foreclosure addendums.  I believe there should be a book on the lingo--- To podium.  Which translates to winning a medal.  Olympic stuff there. I am watching the Olympics.  I am specifically watching the practice and the falling...and the getting back up and doing it again!  Bravery at it's best. I am watching a specific listing on behalf of a buyer.  I am watching the price rise and fall, and I know the owners are backing off on this home, and will eventually do it again.  Rewriting a bad memory.  This home is a short sale, and as I watch it I can only imagine the grief of the family currently on the deed.  I know that they have painted, cleaned, and taken care of this home.  Their pride of ownership shows! In an interview with the Florida Times Union last week, Bill Watson, CEO and Founder of Watson Realty, shared some thoughts on the current market.
