Rainbow at 9:10 a. m. Thursday morning:                       We had an early morning thunderstorm on Thursday and I captured this rainbow on my cell phone.  It s very unusual in Florida to have a storm early in the morning.  This photo was taken from the Starbucks parking lot on Sadler Road in Fernandina Beach, Florida

This is a picture of the moon at dusk over Fernandina Beach Fl. from my home in Isle de Mai. There are several trails from jets possibly from the Orlando or Jacksonville International Airport.  It is an interesting contrast in nature and modern technology and the almost sapphire blue of the sky is beautiful.

Retirement Spending is Just as Important as Retirement Saving Long-term retirement planning continues to be a crucial topic for many seniors who are entering retirement presently or in the near future, especially because how we deal with the outstanding problems of retirement planning right now will also determine how we deal with them in the future, when younger generations start retiring as well. According to an article by The Brookings Institution republished by Reverse Mortgage Daily, new research suggests that retirement spending is a big a problem as retirement saving. As important as saving is for long-term retirement planning (data shows a married couple hoping to retire would need to have saved approximately $250,000 during their working years to have a 90% chance of paying the...

An old new adventure for Thelma and Louise starts tonight. If you have read many of my blogs you are probably familiar with my Thelma and Louise stories.    The AWANA program begins tonight at First Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach.  My friend Fawn (AKA Thelma) and I lead the PUGGLES class which are the two year olds.  This will be our third year as PUGGLES leaders, a labor of love.

Speechless Sunday: Cool photo after a very hot week. The weather here in Fernandina Beach has been brutally hot this past week even for Florida.  Since the humiture climbed to well over 100 every day last week,  I decided to share this picture of my daughter and grandsons sledding.         It was taken in December 2010 when I lived in Williamsburg, Va.  We had a record snowfall of 18 inches that Christmas season.

Today's featured neighborhood is Seaside.  The Seaside subdivision is located off of Jean Lafitte Boulevard just a few blocks from the main beach area of Amelia Island.  The neighborhood consists of two streets: Starboard Landing and Crosswind Drive.  This neighborhhood has lovely stucco homes on well manicured lawns.  The houses were built in 2000 through 2003 by Beazer Homes. These homes are the perfect combination of residential homes in a subdivison that is just a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean. For more information about Seaside contact Sybil Campbell.

Wordless Wednesday: Aerial view of Marsh Lake            I love this aerial view of the large lake in the Marsh Lakes subdivision.  The lake is in the center and the Amelia RIver is in the background.  Most houses in this subdivision back up to a lake, the marsh (and river) or a protected green space. For a private viewing of any houses for sale in this or any other subdivision in Nassau County Florida, contact Sybil Campbell:

The aerial view of a house we owned in Marsh Lakes was taken by a neighbor: It is the all brick house in the lower right hand corner.  It looks like the style of houses in Virginia.  We never dreamed we would be transferred to Virgina and built another house very similar to this one.

This is a picture of the first house I ever owned. It was 1109 square feet with three bedrooms, two full baths and about a half acre lot.  We lived in that house for three years before moving to another state.  It was built in 1973, boy were my husband and I proud of our very first home.  This house is in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

This picture is just another reason I love living in Fernandina Beach.                     I was walking down to the free concert "SOUND ON CENTRE" on July 4th  I was running late because I was negotiating a sale.  When I parked beside my office and got out of the car, I saw this cute young girl in the patriotic shirt.  I asked her if I could take a picture and she agreed.  Somthing like that would have never happened in a huge city   If you need help buying or selling property in the Fernandina Beach or Nassau County area, contact Sybil Campbell at 904-885-0987 or by email: sybil.realestate@gmail.com

This is a picture of a wedding at Main Beach in Fernandina Beach Florida (Amelia Island). Despite the fact that it was cloudy that day, the wedding was beautiful and after it was over, many of the people sitting on the beach drinking in the sun burst into spontaneous applause!                    If you are looking for a great destination for a wedding, why not check out some of the beautful beaches on Amelia Island.

This reggae band played here Friday night at Sounds on Centre.       This picture was taken on August 1, 2014 and yes it was hot but the band was good and as the sun set the breeze came.

Here's one more reason I love living in Fernandina Beach, Florida. I was working in my upstairs office at Century 21 in Fernandina Beach and kept hearing sirens.  When they sounded really close I looked out the window and saw a police car driving down Centre street.  I asked our office manager if she knew what was happening.  She said, it's the baseball all stars, we had a local team go to the national championships. Behind the police car was a tourist bus with the all stars riding in it and behind the bus there were two fire rtrucks. How cool, I wonder how many small towns would take the time to honor a group of teenage baseball players whose all star team made it to the national championships? This is just one more reason I love living in Fernandina Beach, Florida. If you are looking ...

If you are lucky enough to be in Fernandina Beach, Florida on July 4th here are some of the events that are scheduled. I love going to the beach near Peter's Point to watch the fireworks. There are several spots along the beach sometimes as many as 5 or 6 places up and down the coast with fireworks and you can see them all at the same time.  That's a pretty awesome sight.  If you own a boat and can watch the fireworks display in downtown Fernandina Beach from the river, that is a beautiful sight as well.   Where ever you happen to be this 4th of July, I challenge you to take a moment to reflect on the many lives that have been given to allow us the priviledge of living in a free country.  May we never forget!
