Living in Lake County, aptly named with 1400 lakes, my children have learned lesson #1 rather easily.Lesson #1 -- If there is water, an alligator is nearby. Unique Car Game... Drive along Lakeshore Drive and challenge your children to find and count the gators in the lake! This is very exciting, especially for the four year old who is now able to count to 20. This also reinforces lesson #1. Depending on the day and time we can see no gators or more than ten. Lesson #2-- Even if you can't see them, they are there. Yesterday while I was out and about, camera in hand as usual, I decided to take a walk along the shores of Lake Eustis, a beautiful 7,000 acre lake that provides a picturesque background to historic downtown Eustis. Of course I was hoping to spot a creature or two along the way...

Whether you enjoy boats or bikes, horses or birds, antiques or art, Lake County has it for you.I have called Lake County home since 1999. This is the Lake County I know...I was a crime scene investigator with the Orange County Sheriff's Office when I met  and married my husband, a deputy with the agency. At the time I lived in downtown Orlando area and I enjoyed the faster pace and many conveniences of the city. (You know, lattes and Chinese food delivery.) He had called Lake County home for over twenty years after growing up in Zellwood and doing a stint in the Navy. When we married I moved to his Lake County home.I live in Eustis, located in the heart of central Florida along the eastern shore of Lake Eustis. With a population of 17,000 and growing Eustis has a small town friendliness...

My wife, daughter, and I were looking for something to do today.  All week long, we saw signs and flyers for the Sunlove Fest at Ferran Park in Eustis, Florida.  There was to be music, art, and food... coming from S. Florida, we were thinking along the lines of Sunfest or Artigras. When we arrived, the traffic and parking were very light.  That should have been our first clue.  Well, we continued.  At the gate, we were told that it would cost $4/adult (children under a certain age were free... guess who got in for nothing?).  We decide to bit the bullet and pay.Anyway, we start walking around.  I notice that there are very few booths and a band playing on a stage with even fewer people paying attention.  As we begin the circle around the festival, it became evident that we were out of ou...

I sell homes and land in Royal Trails Subdivision. Have lived here for the past 27 years and It's a great place to live. Currently we were put on the map by the recent fires and thanks to the media. I salute the Fire Fighters for the great job that they did. They were able to control it, so it wouldn't get out of hand. If you or anyone is interested in the area and want to know how much land is stil available, please e-mail me at katina@stakeyourland.com https://www.stakeyourland.com/Sincerely,Katina Hargrove352-551-0308

2 Average Joes Vs. Black Bear Golf Club (Eustis, Florida)Aye, Lasses and Lads... I had the best time playing my round of golf today.  A crisp cool 50 degrees with a wind that would make you wish you wore something under your kilt.  My wife thought I was insane to go out today, but I needed to satisfy my craving for the course. If the roughs were knee high reeds and heather, I could have sworn I was playing on a Links course over in Scotland today.  Between the weather and the course itself, I was probably as close as I ever would be.So let's get started with this review from 1 Average Joe.  Yes, you heard right... 1 Average Joe.  Marc had an "Open House" that he had to attend to.  (Turns out he paid the price for not showing up... no one showed up at the "Open").  Rich, who made plans to...
