The Delray Beach Holiday Parade is this Saturday, December 11, 2010, and is back at night (6 PM).  We may not have snow here in Delray Beach, Florida, but we DO know how to celebrate a holiday.  There's the St Patrick's Day Parade and the Halloween Parade;  Holiday Boat Parades along the Intracoastal Waterway and New Year's Eve First Night.  There are no big balloons like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, but plenty of local pride, local floats, high school bands, twirlers and anything else you can think of for a parade.   (Scenes from the 2009 Daytime Holiday Parade) The Parade will begin at 6PM at Atlantic Avenue and Venetian Drive and head west to NW 5th Avenue. Delray Beach Green Market, Delray Beach, FL                                                 The weather was perfect this morning for the Delray Beach Green Market.  The green market runs every Saturday through May 14 from 8 am to 1 pm.  Located on SE 4th Avenue half a block south of Atlantic Avenue in the heart of downtown Delray Beach, this is a great place to spend a few hours and buy some locally grown foods.     My first stop was the Harvest Time Market.  They had a lovely array of fresh veggies, fruits, both whole and cut up, as well as home-baked goods, which looked great!  Ann told me their business is located a short distance away in Lake Worth.  In a few weeks, their U-pick hydroponic strawberry field will be open.                                                                ... 11/13/2010

The Palm Beach County Radio Control Association holds its WARBIRDS OVER THE GLADES 5 at West Delray West Delray Regional Park this weekend, November 6-7, 2010. Mina, my kittie cat was adopted on October 14, 2010.  I never had a cat before, so everything has being a learning experience for both of us. Her about humans, and me about having a beautiful kittie cat as a house mate/kiddie cat. I got her some catnip and catnip toys but she gave no attention to it at all. After some research I found out that kitties might not be sensitive to it and that 1/3 of the cats just don't care for it at all. During the daily visits of her outside friend cat, I decided to offer him some catnip. I was amazed by his love to it. He really had a blast with the catnip and Mina, my kittie cat, was just watching from the inside. I would love to know what her thoughts were...But I am sure she was entertained. Mina was rescued on October 14, 2010, from a bank's parking lot in Delray Beach. On her first day she didn't use her litter box, but rather my home office twin bed. Luckly, she loved her new litter, which was advertised as great to attract cats. She loved it so much that she even chose it as a safe place for her naps. Even though she got a condo of her own, besides her tower and the living room couch. Isn't she lovely?   The brand I am using is called Cat Attract from Dr. Elsey's. I also clean her litter box as often as I can and at least once daily. The one on the picture is her favorite one. But she also has another one in the living room as well.
