A friend of ours, who recently bought a second condo in Sarasota, sent me this link to The 10 Best Big Cities To Retire In The U.S. Wow, they hit two cities on this list. This is the view from the window of the unit we are remodeling. I wanted to take this picture as in a little over a year there will be a beautiful new bridge where you now see the platforms. This time not a drawbridge, but a high-rise bridge.The bridge would connect the beachside to mainland Daytona over Halifax River (Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway) and would take visitors to Downtown Daytona, beautiful Beach Street, antique shops, cafes, boutiques, City Island, City library and... a court riverfront complex (why court house should take prime real estate is beyond me).Boats and yachts would be passing under the bridge, and while construction of a bridge is an expensive endeavor, in the long run it is still better than maintaining a 1954-built draw bridge, where mechanical breaks bring ...

There were more people as usual. The weather couldn’t be better, it was a low tide and 500 feet wide beach was gorgeous. We walked about 2.5 miles in one direction and it started getting darker when we were coming back.After about 8 the firecrackers started going out. I felt like they were coming from every condo on the beach. Soon it was taking over the whole beach, and you could see them on the ocean.Groups and groups of people were coming to the beach with folding chairs, and were setting them waiting for the main parade. There were so many firecrackers, that you could smell and see the smoke.It was the evening of the Birthday of the Nation… 241 years ago.

It is a balmy night in Daytona Beach. From my balcony across the river I see the lights of Daytona International Speedway. All light are on, the race is still going.Going every 1st Saturday of July since 1959. 160 laps in this night race under artificial light… This Coke Zero 400 is the farewell race for Dale Earnhardt Jr., there is even a name for it: Dale-Tona race. Dale is retiring.The race is on our recently remodeled racetrack with 110,000 seats. The racetrack looks absolutely magnificent.I took this vide a couple of days ago with my I-Phone. It was a time when the market, after reaching the peak, started the free fall. There were tons of opportunities, but no cash :)We had an office in the condo-hotel building. The guy came in and asked about the unit on the second floor. He was the bank employee and he told me he was getting this unit, as it was a sweet inside deal.He was getting it for $24K.
