The 46th annual Space Coast Art Festival was held in Cocoa Beach over Thanksgiving weekend and thousands of art lovers came out to stroll around the the juried show. There was great live entertainment, good food and drinks as well. Here is the first group of photos of the event I wanted share with you. Click here to see Post Two. Alter Ego in Stainless Steel. The 2010 Cocoa Beach Air Show was a huge success and I spent 4 hours on the beach snapping photos with my Nikon D 90. The sound was deafening at times and these fighter planes really roar! Here are just a few I wanted to share. Just a little "scenery" I happened upon :-) These F16's were moving pretty fast and I had to be alert to get the shot. Here they are again with vapor trails. Many folks do not know where we are however when you say Brevard County keeps cities such us Cocoa Beach or We are Home of the Kennedy Space Center aka where we launch the Space Shuttle, they pop and say oh yes! I know where that is! The above is a photo from one of the launches in 2008, As a local Brevard Resident watching the Space Launch is a true privlage. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the 2nd annual Cocoa Beach Air Show!  Military aircraft demonstrations include the USAF F-15 Strike Eagle, C-17 Globemaster III and the USN F-18 Hornet!  Military jet demonstrations, parachute team jumps, civilian aerobatic performers and formation flying teams with soar over the beachfront on October 30-31, 2010 from noon to 4pm. If that wasn't enough, the Space Shuttle Discovery will launch on Nov. 1st. Talk about a packed schedule of events!! The 46th annual Our Saviour's Fair was held on Oct. 15th, 16th and 17th this year. It's a tradition here in Cocoa Beach and a great place to find old friends you haven't seen in a while. Marla and I had their famous Kolbassa with sauerkraut and a grilled chicken shish-ka-bob. Of course, I washed it all down with an ice cold beer while making new freinds in the picnic area :-) There is a draw for $10,000 and we have 3 tickets so I'll let you know if we win! Some larger waves were still rolling in at 6:30 on Monday but nothing like the 8 footers caused by Hurricane Igor Sat. and Sun. Bermuda took the brunt of it so far. These photos were taken on my evening bike ride to the Cocoa Beach Pier. I wish I would have snapped some on Sunday but I'm sure there will be another opportunity in storm season. Surfer Dudes size up the surf. They had to be prepared for rip currents. These pilings have to be maintained on a regular basis due to the pounding they take from the surf and storms. The patrons of Jump's Tiny Tavern in Cocoa Beach raise a toast to the Heroes and Victims of 911. Many veterans come to this friendly local watering hole to watch some football, listen to great live entertainment and play horseshoes. It's a favorite place for me to stop on my afternoon bike ride and throw some shoes. It may be tiny but it has a big heart! The Horseshoe Kings: Bill, John (me), Angel, Steve, Walker and JT. The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Surfing Festival and Bikini Contest is held every year at the Cocoa Beach Pier. The waves weren't 8 footers like the ones generated from Hurricane Earl a few days ago but still provided good rides for the contestants. Bikini contest entrants posed for the cameras and threw t-shirts to the crowd. They have a contest on both Saturday and Sunday and then on Monday decide the winners. Everyone has a lot of fun, especially the girls. I bumped into old friend Kenny (black shirt) and it was good to see him again after quite a few years.   Video of Amazing Underwater Mural in Foreclosure Townhouse Cape Canaveral, FL 32920 I love what I do for a living, but every so often I run across something in a home that makes me enjoy it just at little bit more than I usually do.  A few days ago, I was showing one of my clients some foreclosure properties in the Cape Canaveral / Cocoa Beach area.  Unknowingly, I saved the best one for last!  When we walked up to the front porch, we noticed a small painted picture of two dolphins facing or kissing each other to the right of the door.     As we entered the unit, it appeared to be similar to everything else we had already seen that day.  When one of my clients turned the corner and loudly said, "Wow! The "Thunder on Cocoa Beach" Super Boat races were held today, 8/22/10 and as promised, there was a lot of noise and speed. They started racing at 11:00 am but for some reason, they cut the 1:00 pm main event  from the scheduled 1 1/2 hours to half an hour.  By the time I got my chair and umbrella set up, I only had time for some long distance shots and the race was over. I was going to stabilize my camera and go for some telephotos but it was too late. Click Here to see my previous post that shows what the boats look like close up. All sizes of spectator boats were anchored just outside the buoy line to watch. The boats raced only 150 yards from the beach and surfers swam out pretty close to get a good view. Thunder on Cocoa Beach Super Boats were on display in Port Canaveral on Friday in preparation for the big race on Sunday. The event is expected to pump a lot of money into Brevard County businesses.
