United Launch Alliance is planning to launch a Delta IV rocket with a military communications satellite due on Thursday at 8:07pm. There will be a 39 minute launch window. There is a 60% chance that the launch will go as planned.  Originally the launch was scheduled for today, but it was postponed due to bad weather. The Space Coast Office of Tourism also has planned a launch watch party to start at 6:30pm and will be held in front of the Hilton Hotel in Cocoa Beach near Lori Wilson Park. I wrote an earlier blog regarding the Falcon9 Rocket launch over the weekend. The launch was from the Cape Canaveral Air Station over the weekend. A little over 2 minutes into the launch, the rocket exploded approximately 30 miles above the Cape.    NASA is asking that anyone that finds debris on the beach from the explosion to NOT TOUCH debris and to NOT MAKE CELL PHONE CALLS  near debris. Move away and call the authorities.On a personal note, while this explosion is a setback, I am confident that Elon Musk and SpaceX will get right back to the drawing board to correct whatever problems caused this. Since SpaceX is planning on carrying Astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS) in just a few short years, it is so much better that this disaster occured on an unmanned mission.   A Falcon 9 SpaceX rocket is scheduled to be launched into space from Cape Canaveral this coming Monday, April 27th at 6:14pm. The rocket will be launched from Complex 40 and will carry the  TurkmenAlem52E/MonacoSat which will provide national satellite telecommunications for Turkmenistan. This will include coverage zones across Europe, Africa and Central Asia. The launch that was scheduled for this afternoon was scrubbed due to developing storms in the Cape Canaveral area. The launch is now scheduled for tomorrow at 4:10pm. For those that have never seen a launch from the Cape, it truly is a spectacular site that never gets old. If you aren't close enough to see the launch in person, check it out on your news or online. SpaceX is launching another rocket on Monday. This time it will be Elon Musk’s reusable Falcon 9 rocket. You may remember a few months ago a rocket was launched from the Cape and SpaceX attempted to land the rocket on a floating  barge off the coast in the Atlantic. Things did not go well and the barge was pretty well broken upon landing. Well, SpaceX will once again make an attempt to land the reusable rocket after a trip to the International Space Station. I personally am really cheering for this success simply because of all of the space garbage that is currently in our orbit. There will be another exciting rocket launch from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. A Delta IV GPS IIF-09 is planned to launch at 2:36pm EDT at the earliest. There is a one hour launch window. The Delta IV rocket is 206 ft tall and has a diameter of 16.4 ft. Day or night, launches from the Cape are spectacular to see, put it on your schedule!   03/23/2015

An Atlas V rocket from United Launch Alliance is planned to be launched this coming Thursday night at 10:44pm from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. This will be part of NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission. This MMS uses 4 identical spacecraft. They will be spaced in Earth’s orbit to take three-dimensional measurements of magnetospheric boundary regions. The launch will use two solid rocket boosters. As with all launches from the Cape, a launch can be scrubbed if the weather does not cooperate. 03/08/2015

After the explosion of the Antares Rocket yesterday in Virginia, you may have been wondering whether or not the rocket launch on Cape Canaveral that I wrote about earlier this week occurred today...well it did!   There is another rocket launch planned from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station this coming Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 1:21pm.  If the launch is successful, this will be the second launch from the East Coast this week. The $245 million GPS IIF-8 spacecraft was attached to the Boeing Atlas V rocket this past week and will be rolled onto the launch pad on Tuesday.  This mission will be the 8th of 12 satellites in the series. The launch time is scheduled for 1:21 p.m., with an 18-minute launch window. You can watch the launch and all of the pre-launch "activites" on NASA TV starting at 1:00pm.
