Howdy folks, Storms blew into Southwest Florida early this monring bring rain and strong winds. Later this afternoon, after the rains had ceased, I went out to beaches to see what was happening. The gulf was quite rough with the waves washing the sand off the beaches and a couple wind surfers were enjoying the strong breeze. I'm guessing that tomorrow morning low tide should allow for some good shelling .... but ya never know!! Here are some views from today...           Hope you have enjoyed todays views from paradise !!!!

Hello folks, Spent last night and early this morning walking the beach. May be my last time for a few days since storms are scheduled to start rolling into Southwest Florida later today. Left the house at 6:30am to head out to Lover's key to do some low tide shelling. yesterday and today were to be the "lowest" low tides for the next few months, which is a bummer because LOW tides are an excellent time to collect shells and see some aquatic wildlife. Here are some pics from this mornings visit ... Below are a couple spiny starfish that have been left "high & dry" from the dropping tide. They will recover when the tide comes back in. These guys are a bit "creepy" looking as they try to move along the sand to get back in the water. Couple guys Fly-fishing. Showing off a Snook he caught be...

Howdy folks, In normal fashion I hit the beaches again tonight right before sunset. Sky was pretty clear making for a beautiful sunset. The gulf was quite calm and the temperature outside was hovering 80 degrees..... WOW ... our winters are so rough down here!!! Here are some pictures from tonight's beach visit..... Here is a small shack on Barefoot Beach...     My favorite place to hang out. Doc's has the BEST peal & eat shrimp anywhere in SW Florida.     Hope you have enjoyed tonight's pictures.

Hello Folks, In the past 15+ years that I have either lived in Bonita Springs or been coming here for vacations, I've never known that Bonita was home to such large Pyramids. happened to stumble across a couple this past week while walking the beach. Walking the beaches can be quite enjoyable ..... enjoying the gulf, sand and beautiful weather .... except for today.... was quite glummy with on-off rain .... but still a great morning at the beach. Kind of like the old saying (or a variation there of) A bad day walking the beach is better than a good day at work..... Here are some pics from yesterday and today... Picture to the right is of a Lightning Whelk moving his way along the beach in the surf. The blck tip at the end of his shell would be his nose. I came across a few of these. The...

Hello folks, I stumbled across a sea critter tonight on the beach which I had never seen before. What was odd is that in all the years I've been walking the beach (15+ years), I've never seen these critters before and tonight, I must have seen 20 to 30 of them. Quite odd..... This little guy was about three inches long and found in the shallow water (only a few inches deep). At first I thought it was some type of plant growth until I realized it was moving across the bottom on the sand. Here are some pics of the sunset from tonight also...   Hope you have enjoyed the photos.

Howdy Folks, Windy day in paradise today. Mother Nature sure is whipping up the winds off the Gulf of Mexico which has also churned up the waters. Gulf was quite rough this afternoon, rougher than I've seen it in quite some time. Quite a few surfers taking advantage of the rough waters by catching the waves. Here are a few picks from today's walk on Bonita Beach at Big Hickory...... Here are a couple surfers waiting for the next wave.. View looking over one of the jetties into the pass.. The tip of the jetty stick out into the Gulf waters.. Below is only a few of the birds in the flock of "Skimmers" resting on the beach. If you look closely, you will notice that the lower beak on these birds is longer than the upper beak. These birds are called "Skimmers" because they fly only an inch a...

Hello Folks, From the first of May until the end of October every year is Stingray season on the beaches of Southwest Florida. The first thing most locals will tell you is to 'Shuffle" your feet as you walk in the surf. By shuffling your feet, you will scare off any stingrays before you have a chance to step on them. This mornings walk in the calm surf along Bonita Beach revealed numerous stingrays. It doesn't matter how big or small they are, if you step on them they will nail you with the barb in their tail out of defense.

Hello Folks, Hope everyone is having a nice and relaxing Memorial Day. While you are out gathing with family and friends, or relaxing in your home, please remember our soldier past and current. It is because of these brave men and women that we are able to enjoy the freedoms that was have. Unfortunately 'Freedom" does not come easy and comes at a high cost to maintain. As one of our freedomes is the ability of any American to go where they wish whenever they wish. I choose to visit the beach quite often. It is a great way to relax, enjoy nature and get some exercise. Here are a few pics from this morning visit to Bonita Beach, Florida...   Below is a picture of the fin from a Dolphin. This Momma Dolphin was swimming with her baby just off the beach. Unfortunately my camera is not very f...

Hello Folks, Beautiful morning for a walk on the beach. The last two days have been filled with gray skies and lots of rain, so going to the beach was not a possibility, unless I wanted to walk in the rain, which isn't my idea of fun. Got out to the beach at about 7:15am and was surprised at how few people were on the beach. I could probably count all the people within sight on one hand. Here are a few pics for your please........

The picture was taken at Bonita Beach in Bonita Springs, Florida in December of 2008.    Title this picture for me, won't you?   You can pick up twenty five stinking points doing it, too.  It's a win - win for both of us.     The only person that didn't win was this little old man.  He didn't catch a single fish, but he had fun.

We just reduced this beautiful beachfront condo on Bonita Beach $75,000 and it is now the lowest price per square foot 3 bedroom condo on the beach!!  Priced at $699,900, and with one of the best views of the Gulf Of Mexico for miles, this is your beach front dream home!  Silver Sands is a private building with only 24 residences.  It is in immaculate condition and is nicely furnished with Tommy Bahama style furniture.  The view speaks for itself....   You won't be disappointed!

Hello Folks, Today was a gorgeous day to walk the beach. This mornings temperature dropped down into the mid sixties but by 9:00am, it was back into the low seventies. The sun was shinning bright and we had a beautiful blue sky. There were quite a few people walking the beach this morning. I believe this was due to a combination of issues ..... One: It was a great morning to walk the beach Two: the snow birds have already started to arrive in town which about doubles our population during the winter month in the Fort Myers / Naples, Florida area. We had a low tide this morning which usually makes shelling good, but it was actually quite dull today, but who cares with the beautiful weather. I did find numerous "live" shells up on the beach. There were many live "Lettered Olive" shel...

Hello Folks, One of the things that makes the beaches of Southwest Florida (Sanibel, Captiva, Bonita Springs, Naples, Ect.) so enjoyable is the lack of large hotels lining the beaches. Other than Ft. Myers Beach, you will not see many hotels on our beaches. Most of our beaches are lined with private homes and condominiums. Fortunately the condominiums are clustered together in groups which leaves the rest of the shoreline to only have homes along the beach. With these homes comes a lot of plants and trees, which helps with the scenery. The variety of homes is quite diverse also. Typically the smaller one or two story homes are the old "original" homes. These are nice, quaint homes that were mostly used for vacations by the owner or rented out during certain parts of the year to hel...
