The Boca Raton Resort.  Addison Mizners Masterpiece   The City of Boca Raton, FL has long been one of the most desireable areas in the country. The address Boca Raton, FL is made up into 2 parts.  One is within the city limits, and the other is unincorporated Palm Beach County.  Although the address is still Boca Raton residents of unicorporated does not receive the many benefits of being within the city limits.  The City of Boca Raton has its own water system which tends to be at least half the monthly payment of what Palm Beach County Water Utilities are.  Also the city of Boca Raton has the lowest tax rate in the county.  The City of Boca Raton is known for its "snowbirds" (people who come down during the winter months form the northeast).  This is not Florida's bird.  Florida's bir...

The seasonal rental market is booming in Boca Raton as people from the North and elseware are planning how they will spend their winter months.  Why be in snow and sleet while you can be walking on the beach?  Whether you want to spend $3,000 a month or $15,000 a month there are many options available to the seasonal renter. Choose from the upscale downtown area where you can walk to shops and restaurants or a direct oceanfront building that will make you feel like your on a Caribbean island. Now is the time to make your reservation as this is prime reservation time.  Many people find they enjoy it so much that they reserve for the next year even before they leave during the winter months. Another great thing about seasonal rentals is if you are thinking about buying and want to try a b...

The Boca Raton market has gone down about 26% since the peak which was about September of 2005!  We are well below the average which seems to be around 36% for south florida.  Boca Raton has always been a very desireable place to call home, and In May of 2007 there were 278 closed sales. and in May of 2008 there were 280 sold.  In June of 2007 there were 282 closed sales, and in June of 2008 there were 293 closed sales.  We are slightly behind the pace of 2007 for closed sales with 1510 closed sales in 2008 versus 1614 closed sales.  The average sales price for the year of 2007 is $523,266, and in 2008 so far it is $446,291.  A difference of 15% from 2007 to current.   Boca Raton is separated in 2 parts.  The City of Boca Raton, and Unincorporated Boca Raton.  There are certain benefit...

A great activity that you should consider is a visit to the Boca Raton Historical Society.  Whether you visit in person or online, you won't be disappointed. You will really appreciate the town by looking back at the people who built it and enabled it to be what it is today. You can look back and see who the past mayors have been starting with Mayor George Long who was the cities very first Mayor. Read all about Addison Mizner and the huge impact he had on Boca Raton.  Your children will love the Express Train Museum and you can even become a member. Check in with them from time to time to see what their current exhibit is, you won't be disappointed.   Boca Raton Historical Society 71 North Federal Highway Boca Raton, FL 33432 561.395.6766 www.BocaHistory.org Current Hours:  Tuesday to ...

There is no better place to live, but in sunny Boca Raton, FL.  With its Royal Palm Trees and lush landscaping Boca Raton is one of the most beautiful places to call home in the country.  Known for its "snowbirds" (seasonal tourists getting away from the winter), and its mention in a Seinfeld episode, Boca Raton has become increasingly younger due to its incredible parks, recreation, and beaches.  We still have the sprawling golf & country clubs, but we have Mizner Masterpiece gated communities that house some of the most influential people in the world.  Come see what the buzz is all about.  Come to Boca Raton.

City of Boca Raton Area Profile Boca Raton Map - Demographics - Strategic Plan - Future of Boca The meaning of the name Boca Raton has always aroused curiosity. Many people wrongly assume the name is simply Rat's Mouth. The Spanish word boca (or mouth) often described an inlet, while raton (literally mouse) was used as a term for a cowardly thief. But the "Thieves Inlet," Boca Ratones, appeared on eighteenth century maps associated with an inlet in the Biscayne Bay area of Miami. By the beginning of the nineteenth century, the term was mistakenly applied to Lake Boca Raton, whose inlet was closed at the time. The "s" and later the "e" were dropped from this title by the 1920s, yet the correct pronunciation remains Rah-tone. The earliest known inhabitants of the Boca Raton area were the ...

Plans are in the works to make Downtown Boca Raton more active and usable. When many people decide to go out many still choose to go to Atlantic Ave. or Deerfield Beach and the City of Boca Raton would like to keep them in Boca. While we certainly could benefit by more activity downtown, too many tall buildings and traffic are not a good thing either. Meetings have been taking place to get as much feedback as possible from the community so a report can be made and presented to the Community Redevelopment Agency which will meet on July 21,2008. Once things are approved the process will continue and hopefully we will see a slightly busier but just as nice downtown Boca Raton in the near future.

One of the best things about the City of Boca Raton is how much they put into public services.  Whether its a park, beach, ball field or any other public place, they make sure they are beautifully maintained and state of the art.  The library system is top notch and the most recent edition is the Spanish River Library which is very impressive featuring all new inventory, computers, lots of activities for the children and even a cafe to have lunch in. You really see your tax dollars at work and Boca Raton continues to be one of the best managed cities in the country.  Below is the information for the new library as well as the original branch located close to the downtown area which is soon to be upgraded as well. Take advantage of everything that Boca Raton has to offer.   Downtown Libr...

When buying a home it is important to know the status of any work that has been done and that everything has the proper permits and that the permits have been closed out.  Often times the person selling the home has no idea about their own permit situation.  They may have had some work done and their contractor told them everything was good to go and somewhere down the road they will find out that the permit is still open and if you are the new owner this is now your problem to deal with.  A problem that can be very costly and time consuming. Sometimes work was done before the current owner bought the home and they have no idea anything could still be open because it hasn't come back to them yet. The best way to protect yourself as a buyer is to do an open permit search.  A good title c...
