Some of the best parks & beaches in South Florida are in Boca Raton.  Gumbo Limbo is no exception.  Located in Boca Raton on the barrier island between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean, this nature center is a wonderful place to visit with the kids.  They have tours daily and feedings as well. Owned & Operated by the City of Boca Raton, Gumbo Limbo is free for the public, but a donation is suggested.  From the Nurse Sharks to the Loggerhead Sea Turtles it provides both information, and excitement to the whole family.  They have 4 tanks which house Sea Turtles, Nurse Sharks, Giant Lobsters, Exotic Fish, and more.  They are also known for the preservation of Sea Turtle Eggs.  They have hatching watches during certain times of the year. A gorgeous butterfly garden, and a w...

A trendy hot spot in Delray Beach called Mellow Mushroom located just south of Atlantic Avenue on 6th Avenue on the east side.  The Mellow Mushrooms serves pizzas, salads, and some great appetizers.  It is kind of a casual spot, and really has some great food.  With over 40 types of beer on tap, the Mellow Mushroom is becoming a great spot for happy hour and business people alike.  We are always looking for a restaurant in Trendy Downtown Delray Beach that does not have the trendy price tag.  I think we found our place.  Great atmosphere, and even has outside patio seating.  You must try the Meaty Meat Pizza, and their famous pretzel appetizers.  They are to die for.  Go check it out.  To learn more visit www.MellowMushroom.com.

Dear Staff at Boca Pointe Country Club Real Estate Direct, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your professionalism, warmth, caring attitude and service with regard to the recent sale of my parent's condominium at 7563 Imperial Dr. Unfortunately, my brother and I found ourselves in a position of reluctantly having to sell our parents' beautiful condominium where they had lived for the past 22 years. The choice of the appropriate realtor to handle this transaction was extremely important to us. After doing extensive research on the Internet and speaking with several acquaintances, we contacted Boca Pointe CC Real Estate Direct, and from my first contact with Jennifer Wyman, I knew we found the right match for our needs. This was not the usual circumstances as we...

The Eden Condo in Boca Raton has been sitting on Palmetto Park Rd. unfinished for a very long time but according to the developer, Ceebraid-Signal out of West Palm Beach the end may be in sight.  With all the delays and plan changes its hard to really know whats happening with the complex which is a big eyesore and has caused many problems for the people who purchased a unit in there.  The latest plan has the developer buying back all the units and then turning the whole complex into a luxury rental community. Whatever they decide I hope it happens fast so everyone can move on and we don't have to look at the unfinished development anymore.  Definitely a tough time for everyone involved.

A Judge has ruled that the owners of the Mizner Trail Golf Club which is located in the Boca Del Mar community may not use the land for residential housing.  This golf course was closed by the owners in 2005 who claimed that the course was not making any money.  The courts decision was based on the fact that the land is designated green space and must remain that way.  Mizner Trail Golf Club was seeking $40 million dollars in damages from Palm Beach County.  Its nice to see something zoned green space remain that way but look for an appeal of the courts decision.

Some changes are coming to the Jewish Community in Boca Raton.  In 1998 Weinbaum Yeshiva High School opened its doors by leasing space at the Boca Raton Synagogue located on Palmetto and Powerline around Montoya Circle.  The school was named after Jack and Bessie Weinbaum for their donation in 2003.  Much of that donation along with a capital campaign that is about to start will be used to help construct a new facility located on the grounds of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County located on Glades & just east of 441. Instead of renting space they will own the building, and the Jewish Federation has agreed to lease the land for 6 years.  The new school should break ground in 12-18 months.    The executive director said the new school will include "a Beit Midrash large enou...

The vacant property along Airport Rd. which became available and was being sought after by City Furniture and Ipic Entertainment will be occupied by City Furniture where they will build a furniture complex. That was the decision of the board based on imput from a CPA hired to review both companies. I would have thought IPic's plan for a 45,00 square foot retail and entertainment complex would have been better suited for the property but I guess there might have been other deciding factors.

I know this may be a little controversial, but bear with me and you will see my point.  For all those dog lovers out there, when you go to purchase your dog you look at many breeders.  You look at the types of dogs, the pedigree of the dog.  Is it a pure bred?  For example if you took a liking to a Labrador.  Labrador's were bred and trained to retrieve things, and I mean everything.  If you throw a plate on the floor that Lab is going to bring it back to you.  If you wanted a Weimaraner, they were pointers, and were bred to bring down big game, and later birds.  If you were looking at more of a security dog, you may choose a Pit Bull Terrier.  These dogs were bred for intimidation.  They are stocky, and are extremely muscular.  They were eventually bred to fight in gruesome fights.  N...

It's great news that the annual Boca Raton Boat Parade will be taking place again this year with the help of some very generous local business people.  The parade takes place on Dec. 20 and starts at 6:30pm at the C-15 canal and heads southbound.  If anyone would like to enter their boat call Lilly at 561.393.7827 or 561.239.1536.  The more boats the better.

When asking about the real estate market what are your answers to consumers? I hate the real estate market (probably not a good idea when you work in real estate) What you see is what you get? What market? This is an opportunistic market where the buyers who need to buy BUY and the sellers who need to sell SELL! Quoting Donald Trump is never a good idea, but he did say "Buy now or you will miss the bottom, do not sit and wait" The premium locations are selling quickly, and if you are looking at a choice home then the best advice is not to wait. It is great, and I am selling real estate in this market.  With less competition I stand above the crowd. Homes are continuing to sell.  In our local Palm Beach County market lots of international buyers are coming to purchase which has spearhead...

I do not usually like looking in the past, but I could not help but wonder when a million dollars meant something.  4 years ago when a friend told you: "Wow do you know I own over a million dollars in real estate" You thought that friend was rich.  How did he do it he is truly amazing.  I wish I was him. Now a few years later if that same friend came to you and said: "I own over a million dollars in real estate" You would turn to that friend and give him your condolences.  Like you were at a funeral.  I am so sorry.  How did it get that bad.  Have you thought of declaring bankruptcy.  I am glad I am not you. My how times have changed.  I always look at the positive, and one that I have found through this challenging market besides less competition is that I no longer have to listen to ...

I want all of you to do an exercise prior to answering the question:  Do you Blog for Points or are you looking for an Audience?  Everyone go to your blog read the first 5 posts.  Now go to a blog you have subscribed to and read the first 5 posts.  If you like the subscribed blog better than you are blogging for points.  We all have a lot to say, and we certainly say it, but instead of posting a few thoughts here and there why not try, and organize your thoughts, and spend some time on your blog post.  You will be amazed by the results.  Brad Carroll with Dakno Marketing just blogged about blogging less, and I agree.  It is not the one who blogs the most it is the one who has the most captive audience.  Lets go over what makes a good blog: First you should have a theme and stick to i...

I watched this video this morning on the housing crisis on cnbc.  Finally the media is giving us some love.  I have been saying this all along.  I just do not get this.  If there are 120 million homes and 33% of them are owned free and clear which leaves around 80 million homes with mortgages on them, and 50% of them were purchased prior to the year 2000 then why is there such a problem.  That leaves 40 million homes that were purchased after 2000 that have a mortgage on them.  Of all of the mortgages 95% are paid on time, and only 2 % of all mortgages go into foreclosure.  Where is the rest of the 98% of income going to?  Call me crazy, but it just seems like we constantly bail out banks when history repeats itself, and we do not hold them, and the people involved accountable.  We nee...
