When I first moved to Washington, there was nothing cool about downtown as a place to live.  In fact, there wasn't much to do at all other than take a bus or Metro to a downtown office.  No longer! The area around Chinatown and the Verizon Center has come to life over the past decade.  There are not only lots of galleries, theaters, restaurants and shops, but there are some pretty amazing condo choices. Whether you are looking for a 500 square foot pied-a-terre or a 2000 square foot penthouse, it's all down there.  Here are some samples of downtown Washington DC condos that are for sale today. If you are planning a move to or from the Washington, DC area, I can help!  Call, email or text me at: housepat@mac.com 202 549-5167 Licensed in DC, MD & VA

The National Building Museum is in the old Pension Building, constructed after the Civil War.  It's now the site of great exhibits about architecture, engineering and urban planning.  It's also used for a lot of fun stuff, like Presidential inaugural balls and other festive events.  The also give classes on, among other things, local architectural styles.  If you are a Realtor (or anyone else) planning a trip to Washington, DC, this is a great place to visit.  It's located at 401 F Street NW near the Gallery Place Metro.  It's open between 10:00 am and 5 pm.

I took this during a quick downpour in DC's Chinatown.  Chinatown is a part of the city that has completely reinvented itself over the past ten or so years.  When I first moved to Washington back in the 1970's, it was full of wonderful funky restuarants, funny inport stores where you could buy a real wok, and falling down buildings. Today, the falling down buildings are luxury condominiums, many with innovative materials and styling.  The Chinese restaurants are a lot less funky and there are lots of new cuisines joining them.  And the funny import stores?  There are still a few around, and I was able to find a real wok recently - not one of those flat bottomed Teflon numbers. Here is a sampling of some of the downtown DC condos currently for sale.  If you would like help buying one, p...
