A little back yard competition over 10 years ago has evolved into an event. Thirteen teams armed with seasoning, pork, ribs, chicken and imagination competed for ribbons and bragging rights that will last for through the next year.There is no publicity, yet for the 10th year crowds knew to find their way to Peterson Park in Wolcott CT on the 3rd Saturday of September and wander up the tents picking at the offerings of the  contestants. A BBQ Challenge that gets no Publicity but draws Hundreds to taste the food Peterson Field in Wolcott CT had an aroma coming out that drew the attention of a lot of neighbors. By 7 AM, the activity field had at least a half dozen tents erected and the cookers and smokers were being fired up for the day's cooking. It's an event that started with a friendly neighborhood challenge as to who was the best at ribs. A date was set for mid September for the cook off and friends were invited to be the judges.
