Silvermine, CT   February 2014   Real estate market data provided by Dagny Eason of Dagny's Real Estate Silver and a mine are mentioned quite a bit when researching Wilton’s history, but was silver ever found here?  Alexander Resseguie Jr. inherited a 40 acre property in 1752.  A silver mine was rumored to be on the property near “Honey Hill.”  Resseguie leased out the mine to a group of 9 men, for over 2 years they mined various ores and minerals, without warning they left to have some of the ore “examined” and were never heard from again.  In the same Honey Hill mine, it was rumored that in 1789 a murder took place and the body was disposed of in the mine.   In 1875, still hopeful to find silver, Tiffany & Co. reopened the mine, with no luck they quickly sold it to Georgetown Gold & ...

Over the past five years, the Wilton single family real estate market has generally been improving in number of sales and in prices.  From 2012 to 2013, there was a 9 percent increase in the median sale price ($795,000 vs $722,500) and a 15% increase in the number of sales (259 vs. 219).    The number of Days on Market has decreased from 2012, which is good news for home sellers:     However, the number of homes available for buyers to purchase has also decreased from 2012, which is frustrating for home buyers and can result in a reduction in number of sales.   - See more at: http://www.fairfieldcountyshoreline.com/blog?post=Wilton-Year-End-Market-Report-2013-&xid=040600-02#sthash.quhdpQQ2.dpuf

Icicles, Snow, And Ice Damming in Wilton CT  Do you have icicles hanging from your Wilton rooftops?   Do you have frozen water running down your walls inside or out?   Do you have water dripping from your window frames inside your upstairs bedrooms?       If you have all of these things or some of the things happening inside your Wilton CT home, you have what is referred to as ice damming, which brings water damage to the interior.    It is usually indicative of poor insulation in the attic.            photo credits to ThisOldHouse.com Icicles, Snow, And Ice Damming in Wilton CT

Christi Farrington expanding her knowledge at Dagny's Real Estate in Wilton, CT It was supposed to be a fabulous instructional session with an insurance fellow and all of the agents in Dagny's Real Estate, but we got a call this morning that the speaker was sick.  He was going to cover all of the new developments  concerning FEMA, elevation certificates, and flood insurance.   Christi Farrington, an agent at Dagny's Real Estate, decided to take advantage of this time available to sit down with Dagny and strengthen her knowledge base on blogging and social media.    Good for her!  No grass grows under her feet! Wilton Hills Association in Wilton, CT 06897 Here in Wilton, CT we do not have many single family home condominium associations.    These are planned communities, where the land is shared among the home owners, and the community is a little tighter.   In other words, half of the land might be off to the side with walking paths for all to enjoy, and the other half would surround each of the homes.    This is the way to develop some land that perhaps is not easily divisible into two acre lots, as required by zoning.     Perhaps there is a section of wetlands, or a hill of ledge, or a beautiful little river...... Wilton Hills is a delightful association of single family homes in an association.    Some of the homes are colonials and some are more contemporary.   All are heated with natural...

Orem's Diner of Wilton, CT - Best Food For The Whole Family!    Orem's Diner was originally owned and founded by Charles Orem.    His was the large dairy farm that sold milk to the locals.   The diner became a favorite gathering place for the townspeople to eat, meet friends, or cement business deals together.  Orem's Diner sponsored a great baseball team in town for years, and still does to this day.  As a matter of fact, Orem's Diner is saying "Yes" to many sponsorships that come their way.The Relay For Life here in Wilton asks Orem's Diner to provide some of the food for the Survivor's Dinner every year, and they always say yes so nicely.   We are so appreciative and thankful for their participation. "The '55 flood cemented us all together - the wealthy, the financially stressed, whi...

Wilton, CT 06897   Wilton is rich with history and has had settlers since the 1600's.  Like most Fairfield County towns, Wilton began as a farming community but with our rocky soil industry shifted, and many Mills were erected along the Norwalk river. With the help of the railroad we were able to import and export goods easily.   As the years went by and our country evolved Wilton's economy shifted again and as of the mid 20th century became more of a commuting town to New York City.  This lead to a huge boom in population, from approximately 4,500 to 13,500 by the 1970's. Currently, Wilton remains an easy commute to New York City and many people choose this town for it's convenience to the city, but also it's rural charm.   Number of Sales for 2011-2013   Average Sales Numbers for 201...

Winter Wonderland of 2014 Already! Snow and frigid temperatures were the answer for today.   Our snow blower was temperamental, so I shoveled out half of the driveway (or at least it felt like it!)   -  But it is beautiful!!! Then had 2 sets of buyers sign paperwork tonight - all in all, a good day!

Awesome ActiveRain Meet-Up at Dagny Eason's in Wilton, CT!                                                                         What a wonderful gathering of friends, sharing of stories, fabulous food and a teaching session by Debbie Gartner, our Flooring Girl!!  I have been to many of Dagny's Meet-Up events; however, for some reason, this one was special.  Possibly it was the holidays, a few more friendly faces, a leaning session on Google+ and Pinterest from Debbie and a special visit from Santa, our own Ed Silva!  It was a wonderful evening; and our hostess, Dagny Eason, was her usual charming self and shared her lovely home to all of us. Instructor, Debbie Gartner, giving insightful tips on Google+ and Pinterest. It certainly was a valuable lesson in technology.                  ...
