Any Pond Will Do for a RestWill I am doing my rehab, I can't play golf as yet, but at the very least we take walks on the golf course, with a watchful eye for stray shots.  We stay pit f view and are respectful of the golfers when they take their shots. I also keep my chuckles to myself when their shots are a little off-line.On one fairway, after a particularly heavy storm activity where there would not normally have been any caught my eye. This male and female were in a storm pond, and he was very attentive to her. Must be mating season. There is a reservoir adjacent to the golf course and many areas where they can have more privacy and maybe even make a nest so she can lay her eggs.At the very least they were away from all the other birds and ducks and he could make his pitch.Any Pond W...

A 2024 Memorial Day Story That Brings Closure to a FamilyI was going to post a blog this morning consistent with the thoughts of all on Memorial Day, to remember to honor those that gave their lives for freedom. As I do normally, I was having a cup of coffee to get the mind started and wanted to glance at the paper as well.Reading online has its advantages, and it also offered the title to an article that needed to be read. This is the story of Kenneth McKeeman, the service man on the left on the left in the photo, who lived in Waterbury, until the death f his parents and at 13 years old, moved to Brooklyn to live with his older brother. He enlisted in the Air Force and was part of a bomber crew that was shot down after a bomb run over the coast of France. The Germans gathered the remain...

Friday Flags: Jarjura's,  A Waterbury CT Year-Round Farmers MarketThe flag for this week was easy to spot as the wind was blustery. It stood outside a Waterbury CT Landmark at the edge of the parking lot of Jarjura's Farm Market.Established in 1917, this market has been selling wholesale and retail fresh fruits and vegetables all over the State of CT, and in 1993 opened its retail outlet. To this day it is a family run operation, and they stock the retail side with produce regularly and often items not found in some of the larger stores in the area.https://youtu.be/jG8AC0J3xaQThe market is just off the downtown area and astride the highway that traverses through the town.My wife shops here regularly and I will get our garden plants here when the time comes in May. Friday Flags: Jarjura's...

Friday Flags In Waterbury CT's West SideEarlier in the week while leaving the Waterbury Hospital entrance, it appeared that the flag winds were trying to make me wait longer than I wanted for a photo. With a little patience, however, the winds cooperated, and I got a photo that I could be pleased to offer up today.Even it if took a change in wind direction to get it done. Friday Flags In Waterbury CT's West Side

Friday Flags A Bit of Texas in ConnecticutWe have a couple of big box stores in Waterbury, and they are relatively close to each other.I was on my way to one when the restaurant adjacent was calling to me.This gave me an opportunity to not only offer our proud American flag in the breeze, but also the National Flag of Texas right beside it.After a couple of comments from citizens of that country on my recent flag post, I wanted them to know that it is easy to flag photos if you just take the time. This took me all of 5 minutes from getting my gas, but the satisfaction was well worth it.The wind kicked up enough for me to get the last shot as well. Friday Flags A Bit of Texas in Connecticut

Waterbury CT 2023 Year End Real Estate Market Analysis The year 2023 was a year of transition as the market remained in favor of sellers but higher interest rates impacted buyer's abilities with regards to mortgages. The rise of interest rates created due to the inflationary trend put some buyers back into a waiting mode.  Businesses are on the rebound and their biggest obstacles are the rise in raw materials as well as the lack of qualified employees. In spite of this, after a brief pause the market in Waterbury CT began its rise and finished the year strong. Historically lagging in home prices, Waterbury saw a large spurt in median values and hopefully the trend will remain for the foreseeable future.  For the year 2023, the market sales or absorption rate for Waterbury CT was 60 sales...
