You Never Know What You Will Find On An Early Morning Walk. You know the saying “Early bird gets the worm”.  On our normal early morning walk, today was through Rowayton, Connecticut down by the Rowayton Pond we saw Mama Turtle laying her eggs. A pretty impressive sight and Mama T. is someone you do not want to mess around with, but I did get a few photos by zooming in. Hopefully she get’s finished and back in the water by the time the rest of the village wakes up. You never know what Mother Nature will share with you; we have seen fox, hawks, turkeys, egrets just to mention a few on our early morning walks.       Rowayton, Ct. is about 50 east of New York City, a beach community with a mixture if NYC and the country, a wonderful place to visit and live.     David Popoff is a license Re...

Christmas Lights in Rowayton, Ct. ~ 2010   Growing up in Rowayton, Ct. all the neighbors and local business’s would put up Christmas lighting and decorations. Rowayton downtown runs along the Five Mile River and the reflections of lights would sparkle on top of the water (some years ice). Over the weekend we took a drive through Rowayton and photographed a few of our favorites.  Many of  the boat yards would put up lights at the top of their cranes, here are a few.  Which one do you like best? Happy Holidays to everyone and Best Wishes in 2011.                                                                                   David Popoff is a license Realtor in Connecticut with William Raveis office in Darien. David is a lifetime Fairfield County resident who grew up in Rowayton, Ct. ...

Iced Pond, Fairfield County, Ct. With morning temperatures hovering between 15 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit here in Lower Fairfield County, Connecticut the ponds are beginning to freeze. Not enough for ice skating, that is usually in mid January to February. Not every year do the ponds freeze enough to skate on but it is starting early this winter season. Growing up we used to skate on the Rowayton Pond here in the picture. On most ponds you will find signs saying skate at your own risk or some towns now have no skating. Growing up we followed common sense and safe ice skating practices which few seem to follow now a days. Consider yourself lucky if your town still allows ice skate on the park ponds. Be safe. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

Renovations Rebounding in Rowayton & Darien, Ct.   As we took a morning walk through Rowayton, Connecticut today we notice quite few renovation projects beginning and going on. It is nice to see the construction service picking up, with a new restaurant almost completed, a few home additions and renovations it seems like work is picking up. The same can be said for Darien, Connecticut as you drive through town you will see a couple of commercial projects in construction phase. Darien building permits are up 28 percent in the third quarter compared to 2009. This seems to be a good sign that maybe Fairfield County Ct. is on the rebound.  In this weekend's Wall Street Journal there is an article; US Sees Surprise Growth in Jobs with some of the strongest gains in October coming from the ...

House Jumping.....a picture is worth a 1000 words  Construction is a hard, dirty business. How amazing it was to see the crew getting a little R&R after a long day of work, very inspirational. I should have joined them...lol. Hopefully OSHA is not around, I'm sure they would not be happy. Notice the boy's jumping out of the second floor window at high tide in Rowayton Ct. I've seen cliff jumping, bridge jumping but never house jumping......      David Popoff is a license Realtor in Connecticut with William Raveis office in Darien.  A life time resident of Fairfield County he spent his childhood years in Rowayton and now resides in Darien since 2004. Beaches, BBQ's and sunsets in Lower Fairfield County, Connecticut. A favorite time of the day for me to relax is just before sunsets, especially at the beach. Here in Connecticut we are extremely lucky to have access to the beaches. We usually bring a bar-b-que and get grilling, enjoy the fresh air, relax and renew ourselves. ICE CREAM ~ A HOT AUGUST DAY IN CONNECTICUT. I'm not sure if I need a hot day to eat ice cream but it's a good excuse. It's a child hood memory that brings a smile to everyone's face. Growing up in Rowayton we used to ride our bikes down to a place called Hickory Bluff store that sold bait and fishing gear, rented boats, 15 cent candy and hand scooped ice cream, it was the place to go on a hot summer day. It is now a private boat club but luckily we now have a spot on Five Mile River in Rowayton that offers the same high quality, great tasting ice cream... called Brendan's 101. Owned and operated since 1988 by a home-grown Rowaytonite who loves Rowayton and the history it offers.  Inside the store he has pictures and postcards of Rowayton going back to the early 1900's. Open 7 days a we...
