Let the festivities begin - Newtown didn't fall short, another wonderful tree lighting ceremony was presented to it's residents Friday night. December 3, 2010.It was truly an amazing site as I drove into town and viewed luminaries leading the way to the tree ceremony. There must have been 2000+ decorative bags illuminating the way in and out of Ram's Pasture and the perimeter of the pond.  If you missed this ceremony at Ram's Pasture, Newtown has two more tree lighting cermonies this weekend.        Saturday, December 4th: Sandy Hook is holding their tree lighting ceremony in the center. Festivities begin at 4:30pm and tree lighting at 6:30pm.     Sunday, December 5th: Hawleyville is hosting its first Christmas tree lighting ceremony, so don't miss this one!!!! Each year the town is brought together to kick off holiday season with cider, donuts and even a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.  The serene Ram Pasture is filled with children laughing and family's anxiously waiting the beauty of the lighted Christmas Tree.   Preparation for this community event begins months before the actual lighting occurs. The cost of lighting the tree is supported by many local businesses. The businesses donate over 3,000 candles and luminaries which are lined on Main Street and other neighboring street.   The tree, stands over 100 feet and holds over 5,000 colorful lights!  So, come down to Rams Pasture on Friday, December 3th @ 6:30pm and join the community to sing Christmas Carols, each others company and to, of course, light up Newtown! If you should have any...

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mandy Beckett, Realtor; e-Pro,SFR - William Raveis Real Estate Mortgage & Insurance - 14 Church Hill Rd., Newtown, CT 06470  www.MandyBeckettRealtor.com

Newtown, CT Real Estate Statistics - as of 10/31/2010  Prudential Connecticut Realty's 3rd Quarter 2010 Market Report is out and it is informative as always.  It is broken out into two sections: Single Family Homes and Condominiums.  Under each section is every town along with a year over year comparison of the Days on Market, Median Sales Price, # of homes sold and the percentage change for each.  In the 3rd Quarter 2010 Market Report, you'll see that the Darien market has seen its median sale price increase by 16.7% while Newtown's median sale price has descreased by 9.7%.  You'll also noice the good news - that the number of sales are up dramatically all throughout Fairfield County!     Sell Your Newtown, CT Home in the Spring?!  Sell your Newtown, CT Home in the Spring?!  I have been on quite a few Market Analysis lately where potential sellers have been told that it's better to Sell Your Newtown, Ct Home in the Spring?! Some thought that they read it in the newspaper(Is there such a thing as a Newspaper these days?), some were actually told by another Realtor(believe it or not)and some just think that Spring has always been the very best time to sell.  Let's see if we can put some plusses and minuses down and see where we end up. Currently we have the LOWEST INTEREST RATES IN HISTORY.  Interest rates have an inverse relationship with price.  That means that THE LOWER THE INTEREST RATE THE HIGHER THE MARKET PRICE FOR HOMES.  We also know the the Government is arti...

Located 12 miles east of Danbury, the Sandy Hook region of Newtown offers residents the rustic charm of small town New England with access to amenities to nearby larger communities of Danbury,Stamford, Norwalk & White Plains. Sandy Hook is home to about 10,000 residents. It offers a small town feel to own real estate in a quiet residential area with industry, businesses & commerce only a few minutes away.    Sandy Hook was originally one of the outposts away from the borough of Newtown. They found the Pootatuck River as ideal for the construction of saw & grist mill.  For many years, Sandy Hook remained stagnant with large dairy & horse farms. In the early 1900s through 1940s, many cabins were constructed near Lake Zoar & the Housatonic River. From the late 1980s on, many of the large t...

Hawleyville Plaza - New Shopping Center - Newtown, CT  Recently, the Hawleyville Plaza, a new shopping center opened up in the Hawleyville section of Newtown, CT.  This new five store shopping center is a nice addition to Hawleyville.  It is conveniently located on the corner of Barnabas Road and Hawleyville Road (Route 25) which is just North of I-84 near the commuter parking lot.  The stores that have opened up in the Hawleyville Plaza are: Papa Al's Pizza:  "For Pizza Lovers"  A nice Italian restaurant where you can eat in or take out.  We've heard that they would like to build a patio for outside eating.
