I finally got an iphone – this one is the 4s and I am so excited.     I have used a blackberry for years and knew it was time to switch. I was always so envious of all the cool apps the iphone users had – but I am happy with Verizon and never wanted to switch to another provider….but now I had my chance with iphone becoming available to Verizon users.         I just have one thing to ask….. What are your favorite apps?  Which are the must have apps for Realtors?

Did you know that in 1693 Glastonbury CT was originally called Glassenbury when it broke from Wethersfield CT and became a town all its own?  In 1785 the town residents renamed Glassenbury to Glastenbury.  Then in 1870 the town residents changed the name of the town one last time to Glastonbury.  There are only 2 towns in world named Glastonbury, one in England and of course our very own town in Connecticut!

Hartford County CT has been a booming area this December. Most Realtors lean towards the direction that during the holiday season home sales tend to slow down, but with the mortgage rates so low who can resist! Well, the Hartford County CT home buyers and sellers decided to step up the plate this December . After reviewing the CTMLS I was pleasantly surprised at the numbers just since Dec. 1, 2011 there were 410 listings new to the market of those 35 took a contract, that's not bad in just 23 days, meaning they were priced right! An even better statistic is that of those 35 there have already been two closings! Now that still leave 375 active listings for your buyers to see, like and make their new home. Can't wait to see what the last week looks like! That's a pretty good holiday month...

I was voted a Five Star Agent by residents and colleagues because of my experience, integrity, negotiation and closing preparation.   The Glastonbury Board of Education recently held a public hearing on the issue of starting full time kindergarten here in Glastonbury. While there is a lot of ground to cover in terms of studies and cost issues, the hearing drew a pretty good crowd for those in favor and opposed to the full day kindergarten proposal. A study group led by 2 elementary school principals presented its findings to the BOE. Those findings reflected many benefits of full time kindergarten.   Cost proposals are expected in January as the BOE works through the 2012 -2013 budgets. The option of either full time or part day has been discussed and may be an option in the future.    This topic is sure to draw attention to both sides of the debate as the BOE considers this option for future kindergartners of Glast...

Have you been invited to your family's house for the holidays and asked to bring a "dish". This dish will be a show stopper. The originally recipe is an Ina Garten recipe that I modified over the years til I got to this point. I like a lot of garlic and use quite a bit.  I brought it once to a holiday party and the hostess told me they used the left overs over pasta the next day for dinner and enjoyed the meal very much! Shrimp Scampi - baked Ingredients 2 pounds peeled, deveined and butterflied shrimp – 20 count size1/2 cup Extra-virgin olive oil½ cup dry white wineKosher salt and freshly ground black pepper12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature15 cloves minced garlic 2 large shallots, minced small3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves1 teaspoon minced ...

Great way to give back… shop locally! I am always looking for ways to give back to my community and surrounding local communities. I have found it especially nice this holiday season that there is actually an ad campaign promoting shopping locally running on national TV. So, if you live in or around the Glastonbury, CT area here is an opportunity for you to give back locally. The Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce has put together a great little event to meet members of the business community, do a little networking as well as a little shopping. What a great idea! Put your list of friends together and join us on Wednesday, Dec. 14th between 8-10 AM for their ‘Shop Small’ Holiday Event. There will be local retailers and crafters (see list below) all in one place so you can finish up your sh...

So, you've decided you want to buy a home but you want a deal! Well, everyone does and no one wants or should over pay for a property in today's market. But how do you find a real estate steal (deal)? Everyone thinks look for a short sale or bank owned property because the banks don't want to be property managers. While that may be true, the banks are also tired of losing money on real estate, which I am convinced is why they take so long to make a decision. But if you are willing and able to wait for your real estate steal (deal) here's some tips: SHORT SALES~the seller owes more than they can sell the home for and they do not have the resources to pay the bank the difference between what the home sells for and is owed. The bank is not the owner but they do have the final say as to the...

With this past record breaking snowy winter behind us, the tornado that ripped through Springfield, the mini earthquake over the summer, Hurricane Irene, and freak snow storm Alfred….we learned a lot around these parts about being prepared for ANYTHING.   I wanted to share a few tips about what I did here in Glastonbury CT to prepare for storm Irene that saved us through that freak snow storm in late October where in we lost our power for 9+ days.   The number one piece of advise I can give is what I learned from our local news radio station’s popular show “ State and Church” 3-6pm weekdays on News Talk 1080; the first 72 hours of a storm etc are on you. That means it is on you to make sure you and your family are prepared with food and water and supplies to get you by those first 72 ho...

I posted information on how you can get your CL&P credit a couple of days ago. I know December 7, 2011 is the first day you can apply for the credit. Also, I noted CL&P stated they would figure out if you qualify for the credit and would let you know however, I just didn't feel like I wanted to leave that to them. I figured they have alot on their plate right now with all the storm aftermath. So I called 888-566-9257 from my cell phone.  My cell is registered on my account and the automated phone system recognized the phone I was calling form and was able to bring up my acount. Keep that in mind if you are using a phone that is not registered on your CL&P account, you will need to have your account number handy. The automated system explained that in order to qualify, I would have neede...

GENERATORS Many customers are using generators for the first time during the storm and should make sure that the generator has been properly installed to avoid back feed into CL&P's system that might cause injury to employees or anyone near a downed line.  Generators should be properly grounded and should never be plugged directly into a home's wiring. Generators should be placed outside and away from the house to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. CARBON MONOXIDE DO NOT USE generators, charcoal or gas grills, gas lanterns or camping stoves indoors or in an enclosed area, like a garage or basement.  These items should be used outdoors only.  DO NOT use a generator in a garage even if the garage doors and windows are open.  Ventilation is not sufficient and could result in carbon monoxide ...
