If you're thinking about relocating into the Greater Danbury area, it takes a while to learn to navigate the area. Our roads are were not exactly planned on a grid system around here. The Federal Road shopping hub on the Danbury/Brookfield line has a lot to offer. There is a Home Depot and a Lowes within less than a mile of each other, a Best Buy, a huge movie theater, Stew Leonard's - a great local fresh dairy/farmers market style grocery store, Kohls, numerous furniture stores and more. One of my favorite places in Greater Danbury to stop in for a quick bite to eat is the Costco snack booth. My husband and I stopped in on our shopping day for a slice of pizza for lunch. A frozen yogurt on a hot day after a long shopping trip certainly hits the spot. Our local Costco parking lot is ful...

For a small city of about 75,000 residents, Danbury does offer a large variety of culinary choices. You are only a few minutes from a restaurant almost anywhere in Danbury's 40 square mile area. The city has the typically changes found across the country, including Applebees, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Subway, Wendy's & McDonald's. However, the majority of restaurant's are locally owned & operated.  There are plenty of locally owned Italian & Chinese restaurants to be tried. There are a few Indian & Asian restaurants, including Bombay (Pembroke Road), Koo (corner of East Pembroke & Hayestown Rd) & Pho Vietnam (Padanaram Road). There are at least 3 middle eastern restaurants, Hannah's (located along Lake Avenue), Vivianne's (on Tamarack Ave), and Sesame Seed (...

Maybe you did not know about Danbury   Connecticut's Favorite Milk Run You are a lean, mean cruising machine - a biker of stature among your peers. When you and your crew get ready to go on a run on a sunny Sunday afternoon, where are you going to go? Well, if you are like a lot of other New England bikers, you want to aim your headlight towards some smooth, curvy scenic roads, that ultimately take you to a place where refreshments are cold and the crowds are motorcycle types like huge ice cream sundae, a cold shake, or some chocolate milk really hits the spot after a long, hard day of carving up the road with the thunder of your mighty steed. Right? In the case of Marcus Dairy Bar Restaurant in Danbury, absolutely. What started as just a simple Sunday ride by a few guys from New Canaan...

With the amount of short sales & foreclosures across the country & in the Greater Danbury Area, it is a good opportunity to pick up some real estate and rent out. There are several different calculators flouting around the internet & in books that have a bunch of different formulas that try to guide you in deciding if it is a good property to rent out or not. Here is a website that I found that is very helpful, because it not only talks about cash flow, but also any change to net worth. This should be not taken as tax or investment advice as you would get from your accountant, tax advisor or personal banker. Often times, there is a belief that you will get a better deal with a short sale or a bank owned property because it is a distress situation where they need to sell. In my experienc...

Danbury in Connecticut Danbury's Official Town Information and Demographics Nestled in northern Fairfield County and at the foot of the Berkshire Mountains, Danbury lies next to the New York State border and is often referred to as the "Gateway to New England." The hub of the Housatonic Valley Region and its close proximity to metropolitan centers, natural surroundings, many lakes and ponds, excellent school systems, cultural opportunities, health care facilities, low crime rate, quality of life, and real estate values make this a wonderful place to call home. It's been said that Danbury began when eight families came from the Norwalk and Stamford CT areas in 1685. They came to settle in Danbury which the Indians then called "Pahquioque" or "Paquiaqe" meaning open plain or cleared land....

Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince     The only thing I really enjoyed from this moview was seeing the cast all grown up.  So look at the picture above and you are all set (insert chuckle here). This movie was a thumbs down disappointment.  I liked the ones that came before it but this one just didn't measure up.  I kept waiting for the plot to develope or a storyline to emerge but this movie was more like a day in the life.  Unfortunately it was more like 2 hours out of my life! Save yourself the time.  Not worth the movie admission!  :)MattToll Free: 888-NCFIXER (623-4937)Toll Free Fax: 888-FAX-4020 (329-4020)Local: 860-282-6181330 Roberts Street 4th FloorEast Hartford, CT 06108  credit repair

When you are shopping for a home loan you will usually see rates quoted in two columns.  The first will say INTEREST RATE and the second will say APR - which stands for Annual Percentage Rate. What's up with that?  Shouldn't the interest rate BE the Annual Percentage Rate? In a perfect world it would seem so - but, alas it is not. The challenge is that this is one of those questions where if not explained simply, the answer can seem more confusing than the question.  At the end of the day, I really believe that it's one of those great mysteries of life that "they" will never share with us - the regular people. I do not claim to understand all the math  but what I can do is explain to you the theory behind why there are two figures and how you can look at both numbers in a way that can h...

Like most areas, Danbury, Connecticut homes sales have declined lately.  Along with declining home values, we are also seeing declines in the number of homes actually selling.  This graph shows the number of closed home sales in New Fairfield from the first half of 2000 (1H2000) through the first half of 2009 (1H2009). Single Family Homes:   Condos in Danbury have also shown a weakening market, with fewer condo units being sold, as evidenced in the following graph:   As is apparent from the graph, we are seeing far fewer homes selling than we have in the past.  While there appear to be indicators that the number of closed home sales may be about to begin increasing again, there is no indication that we will soon be going back to the high number of sales we have experienced in recent ye...
