The Town of Bolton Connecticut has a special place in my heart. It is the town where I first listed and sold a property as a real estate agent. Bolton is called the Town for All Seasons. The town housed Lower Bolton lake which is approximately 178 acres. Its proximity to Hartford, 10 to 15-minute commute, has driven lakefront hunters towards this part of the State. It is close to the interstate highways which provide convenience to the regular commuters. Seeing any of my dogs under the weather troubles me easily. It resembles a natural motherly love over an ill child. Their get-well place is The Bolton Veterinary Hospital. The Bolton Veterinary Hospital in Bolton Connecticut boasts of extremely competent and experienced surgeons and practitioners. I only want the best for my babies. My doberman was limping last week and at 9 years old, he is 63 in human age. My guess is that he must be starting to succumb to some illnesses common to humans at this age. Arthritis, tendonitis, rheumatitis? Whatever it is, he has to be diagnosed as soon as possible. The challenge in taking my doberman to anywhere outside of his territory is his anti-social behavior towards other animals. He would bark at cats, birds, squirrels and at almost any creature bi...

Bolton CT was one of the few towns that defied the trend of slumping sales in 2011 compared to 2010.  In fact, Bolton CT showed stunning results in both closed sales and median price.  In 2011, there were 49 closed sales compared to 35 closed sales in 2010.  That's a 40% increase over the previous year.   The median price showed just as positive results; the median price in 2011 was $275,000 compared with a median price of $207,900 in 2010, which is a 24.4% increase.   Bolton did not show the huge surge in sales as a result of the homebuyers' tax credit that other towns showed. Sales fell off after the 6/30/10 deadline, whereas the last half of 2011 showed several peak months.     Maybe word is getting out that Bolton is a beautiful small town and a great place to live. If you would lik...

I love this time of year. I live in a rather cold area, so you do get the crappy weather, and the occasional cold. But what I love about this time of year, is the opportunity to reflect, and look forward.I am a big believer in painting your own future.Holding a vision in your mind so strongly that *you* take the steps to make it a reality. (Not some mystical force, but you ;)Today I wanted to share with you a simple way to REBOOT your brain for the new year. Our minds are much like computers...We have our conscious which is what we are aware  of right now. Sort of like the app you have running right in front of you.Our subconscious which is running all these processes in the background, just like a computerrunning to many windows in the background. Then we have our old memories of the pas...

Life is a daily battle. We either wake up to a bright and cheery morning or we cringe for waking up on the wrong side of the bed. We engineer our mode with what our senses transmit to our brain. We rev our engine with a freshly brewed coffee or a cinnamon bread. But we can also ruin a perfectly fine day with minute details such as wrinkles on our shirt or dishes on the sink. Some dwell in a bad mood for a long time and point the fingers to almost anything under the sun. There are times though that we are challlenged by real and hard tribulations. We can stay miserable and sulk in our seats forever. Or we can stand up again after the fall to be triumphant and successful. If you feel the weight of the world is on your shoulder and you just want to quit, then your action is working agains...

Back to School News: Bolton High School Start Delayed While many of the area schools are already in session, the town of Bolton was scheduled to start school on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.  Bolton Center School will begin as planned on Tuesday, but Bolton High School will be delayed until Wednesday, September 7, 2011. The opening of school was delayed because a certificate of occupancy was not received for renovations done over the summer on the older part of the building, but it is expected on Tuesday.  A new wing was completed last year, providing space and amenities that the Town of Bolton felt would be necessary to help it achieve its 2020 Vision.  One of the reasons that people want to live in Bolton is because of the public schools.  Bolton Center School includes grades Pre-K thro...

Here are some photos that I recently took of my town, Bolton, Ct.  We are famous for our delicious strawberries and historic landmarks.  The population is now around five thousand people.  We we moved to town, thrity four years ago, there were about twenty five hundred people livng here.  We're growing! Some snow is still seen in the photos, but, most of it has melted away.  We are ready for spring.  The trees have buds on them and the local community has started their fundraising events.  Welcome, Spring! Here's our Downtown Area Our Town Hall is on the left of the photo and the Bolton Congregational Church is on the right.         Here's the area that hosts the gazebo for summer night concerts and picnics!                                                                                ...

Yesterday, I held my first Broker Open of the year.  It was located at 38 Castlerock Lane, in Bolton, Ct.  A true luxury home in a new subdivision.  We had food, drinks and door prizes.  The first person to walk in the door . . . .George Souto, from McCue Mortgage, which is located in New Britain, Ct.  Not terribly far from Bolton, but, still a trip across the river.  He helped me with getting things ready.  My Sellers were away, so, shades needed to be lifted and the lights clicked on.  George got it all done, while I prepared the food bar.  How great is it, to have a fellow blogger, just jump in and get it done! I am very impressed by this member and his commitment to real estate.                                                                               We had a some agents and ba...

Yes, we have heard the news!  January has been the most snow falling month, since 1945.  Wonderful!  Schools are cancelled, again.  The students will probably lose their spring vacation this year.  Town budgets are off the scale because of their snow plowing costs. This is a photo of my husband, digging out our driveway in Bolton, Ct.  The snowplow has come by, only once, very early this morning.  We are fortunate to have the Bobcat, from my Son's business!  Makes cleaning off the driveway, way too much fun for him!                                                                             Mother Nature doesn't care about school closings, snow plowing budgets, businesses that have to close or open late, or your need to sell houses.  I have stopped worrying about it and I am learning to...

After a rather busy day, I took some time out, to make a pie for good friends of mine.  They relocated their home to our state, for a job.  I am thrilled to have them nearby and thankful for the help that they have offered to me.  When they help me, they will not take payment.  So, as a form of thanks, I make the hot apple pies.  They seem to like them, so phew! Off to deliver the pie, while it's still good and hot!  It's only 15 degrees out, so I am sure that my vehicle will have steamed up windows by the time I reach there home.  They are only minutes away, so, it should work out fine. Hope that one of your evenings is one spent with friends, that you are grateful for.
