2024 Colors of Fall in Connecticut 1We are into October and already there are some changes in the colors of the trees. The nights have been a bit cooler and it starts the change in the leaves. I play in a Seniors Gold league in Watertown CT which is in Litchfield county. As it is the Northwestern part of the state it not only has the coolest temps, but also the hills make for a greater panorama for the colors.  Being on the gold cure just affords a better vantage point to see the trees without homes in the way.. Friday Flags Patriotic Watertown CT Bottling PlantWednesday mornings are my day of playing golf in a senior's league at Crestbrook Park in Watertown CT. On the way to the course, I always pass the Crystal Rock plant with it's all too large flag, seldom waving for me to catch a shot.I was fortunate coming back last week to catch it fluttering and stopped to take a shot.Being slightly impatient I decided to do a whisper and see if I could get it to unfurl more.Not much better but It was appreciated none the less. Fall Has arrived once again in Connecticut, which means it is time for me to begin my Progression Of Fall Colors series I started twelve years ago.  This is a series I hoped to continue for many years, and have been able to do so far, however, this year I have started maybe a week to late. The first two years of this series, the pictures were of a farm which is only about a minute walk from my house.  Ten years ago I decided to change the location for the 2014 Progression Of Fall Color Series to a lake about 5 minutes from my house on RT17.  I tried that location for two years, but the colors were not as good as I expected them to be.  So eight years ago I decided to change locations again to a site at Lyman's Orchards in Middlefield, CT.  But once again that site did not produce the co... 10/07/2024

Prospect CT 20th Annual Pumpkin Festival, Oct 12 2024It's time for the parade and judging of the pumpkins which gets a lot of anticipation and generates anxiety with the kids.This is a fun time with the burlap maze on the green and the competition with  the team competition in the hay-roll races for a prize of $500.00Each grade level gets at least 3 prizes. so all get a chance and they really go all out with the imaginations.Music will play all afternoon, and vendors are there with food as well.A parade early in the day kicks off the fun and fun there will be.Rain date will be the following day October 3. Prospect CT 20th Annual Pumpkin Festival, Oct 12 2024 10/05/2024
