The History of Steamboat Springs, Colorado The Ute Indians were the first to inhabit the Yampa Valley, hundreds of years before fur trappers came to Steamboat in the early 1800's. They were likely here for the lush valley in the summertime and the abundant hunting opportunities throughout the region. At some point the trappers thought they heard the chugging sound of a Steamboat steam engine, but it was actually a bubbling mineral spring that sounded like a Steamboat - hence the name 'Steamboat Springs'. In the early 1900's, Steamboat Springs was the largest exporter of cattle in the western United States." Ranching has always had a stronghold on Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley. To this day ranching cattle and hay serves at the livelihood for many residents of Routt County. In t...

The Aspens usually begin to change in mid-to-late September, so try to plan your photography and family hikes accordingly! There are so many reasons that Steamboat is loved during the Fall. Below I have listed some of my families favorites: Fall Driving - Steamboat's beauty is magnified in the fall as the leaves begin to change. As winter approaches, you can often do the same drive twice in one week and the scenery is sure to change. One place we recommend is taking a slow drive up Buffalo Pass. The many views back into the Yampa Buff Pass is a great place to take in Steamboat's beauty. Catch the ...

Steamboat's Easy & Detailed MLS Search:Two search features that I have found particularly helpful are the map search and the ability to search by subdivision. Search Steamboat MLS via Map allows you and others to easily find homes in a visual medium. Showing you where the homes are on a map, you can more easily find real estate within a certain area. In addition, you can narrow down your search within the map feature. By including a min and max price, what type of property you are looking for and the amount of bedrooms and bathrooms, you can see not only every home for sale in a certain area, but also limit it down to the homes you are interested in.Searching the Steamboat Spring MLS by subdivision is another great way to narrow down your search. If you know the general area or developm...
