Most everyone who has been to Steamboat Springs are familiar with our "Signature Champagne Powder", where Steamboat is home for this. We offer this incredibly light, fluffy and super-dry signature Champagne Powder snow. Steamboat has some of the best snow in the Rocky Mountains, the largest mid-mountain base of the major Colorado destination resorts, that should offer another great winter season. Steamboat has been a white weekend, as Mother Nature paid a visit to Ski Town, U.S.A. with the first major storm of the winter season. Sunday through Monday, 14 inches and possibly more of snow piled up, and snow continues to fall with forecasts calling for another foot or more possible through Wednesday morning. The weather channel is predicting another La Nina year here in Steamboat, which m...

Steamboat's Market Update The month of August saw volumes continue to improve in Steamboat Springs. Sales Volume for Routt County grew almost $10 million over July, totaling $46,343,500 and is 40% more than August of 2009. The strong month in August keeps the overall sales volume for 2010 high, 69% YTD better than it was at the end of August of 2009 TYD. This is driven by a variety of things including buyers coming back as prices have adjusted downwards, continued interest in luxury properties, locals homes and short sales plus a return to activity in mid-range resort condos and even some land sales. I expect the YTD increases to moderate in the fall since that is when things began to pick up last year and volumes were similar to the last few months. The market differs by type of prope...

Steamboat Springs hasn't received to much rain in the past month, but yesterday evening there was a sure sight of a beautiful Rainbow that approached out of the sky. In Steamboat we've had spectacular rainbow sightings; this particular photo is from last nights light show when we received a few showers. I stopped and starred when the clouds parted and a Rainbow filled the sky above Mt. Werner. "What a Sight to See!" I've always been curious of "What a Rainbow actually is?" and "Where the sun actually goes when you spot a rainbow", so I researched - this is what I found. What is a rainbow? Author Donald Ahrens in his text Meteorology Today describes a rainbow as "one of the most spectacular light shows observed on earth". Indeed the traditional rainbow is sunlight spread out into its sp...

It was great to get in some late season water-skiing this afternoon. We had a fantastic afternoon out at the lake as a family and it was clear why this is our favorite family summer activity.  Wendy grew up on Canandaigua Lake, one of the Finger Lakes in UpState NY and I grew up on The St. Joseph River, a 100 yard wide plus glassy river that flows into lake Michigan.  Our first date was water-skiing on a private lake just inside Boulder, CO's city limits that I was a member on for 12 plus years and little did I know that her dream was too get married on water-skiis. Here is a link to use celebrating our 10th Anniversary this summer in Steamboat Water-Skiing.  I married far above myself and this is most of the reason why.    This is a little late for most people because it is getting ...

Steamboat Springs has such a variety of unique and delicious restaurants to choose from. This particular one is the home of L'Apogee Restaurant & Harwigs Grill in Steamboat, since 1979. History on Harwigs building is quite interesting, it was constructed in the early 1880s and was used as a saddlery store for many tenants over the years, then purchased in October of 1985. Harwigs Grill & L'Apogee Restaurant has a large wine cellar built under the restaurant as well as a temperature controlled room for white wines on the ground floor. In 1987, they have been rewarded "Best of Awards of Excellence", every year from the Wine Spectator magazine. While enjoying dinner here, you won't miss out on the many wine experts that will help make a selection to complement your dinner. Their goal is to...

Steamboat Springs is a town with a unique history made up of wonderful people that help the community in every which way possible. Steamboat Springs Foundation (CARHOF) recently recognized Colorado Group Realty as the top 2010 local contributor, from the Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors. In the real estate industry, CARHOF generates revenue from interest earned on earnest money deposits and donations from Realtors. This revenue is then used to assist housing efforts across the state, through non profit and public housing agencies. CARHOF has donated more than 7 million dollars statewide. Wow! The Steamboat Springs Board of Realtors annually grants CARHOF funds to local non profit and public housing agencies, this year recipients include: Advocates Building Peaceful Communities, Horiz...
