One of the Steamboat area’s most popular attractions is Fish Creek Falls, a dramatic and picturesque spot located about three miles east of town. The 283-foot waterfall is the highlight of the site, of course, but there are picnic grounds and trails as well, so you can make a full day of it. There were ice climbers on the waterfall due to it being solid frozen ice still from the winter.  The park is commonly packed with tourists, locals running or walking dogs, and those wanting to just relax at the foot of the falls. The falls are divided into upper and lower sections with a bridge crossing over the two parts. There are several hiking paths that take you to the falls and above the falls. Some friends and I had a great hike up Mount Werner nearly to the top of the Steamboat Ski Area in search of some powder before the ski area opens.  We were richly rewarded with deep snow in the trees and faceshots on some of the open runs.  It is some of the best early season snow I have seen so lets hope that it keeps snowing.   11/14/2010

Mother Nature has officially started our winter in Steamboat, we have winter dropping snow throughout the day and bringing colder temperatures across the Yampa Valley. The Weather Service is forecasting more snow today, Thursday November 10th and this weekend with cooler temperatures throughout the day and evening. Snow is all around us, making everything snow covered and beautiful. Moose Watching in Steamboat Springs In the early morning and late afternoon is usually the best time of day to look for moose. Photographing or watching moose or any wildlife in that manner, it's best to be patient and let them come to you. Moose are very strong, large and powerful animals and very neat to photograph.
