One of the Steamboat area’s most popular attractions is Fish Creek Falls, a dramatic and picturesque spot located about three miles east of town. The 283-foot waterfall is the highlight of the site, of course, but there are picnic grounds and trails as well, so you can make a full day of it. There were ice climbers on the waterfall due to it being solid frozen ice still from the winter.  The park is commonly packed with tourists, locals running or walking dogs, and those wanting to just relax at the foot of the falls. The falls are divided into upper and lower sections with a bridge crossing over the two parts. There are several hiking paths that take you to the falls and above the falls. These make perfect day hikes. Come early, pack a lunch, and relax with your feet in the falls afte...

C.V. Bistro has amazing cuisine with ingredients from local ranches, farmers and small wineries. The restaurant has an elegant, modern ambience that is very friendly and refreshing. The architecture inside has a curbed exterior framing the interior dining area, with large windows that allows you to enjoy the beautiful downtown Steamboat while tasting delicious food with friends and family. The gourmet of cuisine comes in smaller portions but a beautiful poised art on a plate. The wine list has a reflection of belief in highlighting regional produce, yet exceptional wineries. Some friends and I had a great hike up Mount Werner nearly to the top of the Steamboat Ski Area in search of some powder before the ski area opens.  We were richly rewarded with deep snow in the trees and faceshots on some of the open runs.  It is some of the best early season snow I have seen so lets hope that it keeps snowing.

The fun part of traveling is sampling the local cuisine and Steamboat sure has alot of that to choose from. With that in mind give a few locally-owned Steamboat Springs restaurants a shot. Steamboat offers choices for those who crave comfort food and those who savor more international flavors or just great casual places to eat.  Stay tuned for those soon.Cafe Diva opened in 1998 to offer upscale fine dining yet still maintain that warm and relaxed Steamboat vibe we all know about. The owners and staff provide excellent service and it is great to get to know them over time.  The decor is sleek and modern but still has a mountain look about it. The Wine Selection is way above average, and the restaurant has a special wine vault where they keep their ever-expanding roster of vintages. Inve...
