So the days of debauchery in St. Patty's Day bowl are over in Steamboat, but that doesn't mean our rockin' little resort town doesn't put on a great show for this annual lucky day.  Green beer will be flowing, leprechauns will be dancing until dawn and maybe there will even be a pot of gold or two for all of my Steamboat clients.     Events happening around the Boat tonight: Torchlight Parade & FIREWORKS on the ski mountain - 8pm.  So if mother nature didn't order up a rainbow for us today, we'll be making our own with some of Steamboat's best pyrotechnics.  Maybe your pot of gold will be under the multi colored fireworks?  You never know!  Great viewing spots will be outside of Slopeside, on the deck of Saddles (elevate your apres!) or mixing in the mayhem on the deck of the Bear Rive...

In one week, I will be leaving for Norway to compete in the Telemark World Cup Skiing Finals and the Telemark World Championships. So check back on my blog for updates during my travels. You may wonder why I post this stuff? I guess it just talks about my personal side and that I'm dedicated and driven. And I feel buyers and sellers want that in a realtor.   Hard to believe I have the time to race at such a high level let alone train for the events. But it’s all about focus and quality over quantity. At least in my hours put into this sport. I’ve been coaching telemark racing for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club for a few years and have been racing on and off for several years. I call myself a racer/coach and when I have my race-face on I take it very seriously. Although it’s j...

I once did some day-trading using an online trading site. I thought I would make a killing not using a financial advisor. I lost. I saw some big gains but my last experience I saw a substantial sum of money evaporate. I'm older and wiser now.  I would never trust my hard earned money in the hands of a part-time stock broker or financial advisor that turns their computer on once a week. I want a person that lives and breathes finance. I want definitive advice. I want confidence. I want probabilities, stats and confirmations. I want my money to make money. Period. My point? Why would anyone use a part-time realtor? It's the same thing only real estate money is leveraged money so the gains and losses can be amplified.  A full-time realtor lives and breathes real estate. They take their jo...

There's been a lot of discussions lately regarding home ownership. And frankly, there are solid arguments in favor of renting versus owning a home today. The primary argument against home ownership today revolves around appreciation in the values of real estate. Over the last 2-3 year real estate has not gone up in value. In fact, home values have gone down - up to 50% or more in places. And home ownership is down as well. Home ownership should not be taken lightly. Sure we'd all like to make gains on our real estate as we have done so almost consistently for 70+ years. But as we have learned from the past few years, nothing is guaranteed. Yet, now that we have weathered what seems like the worst of the storm, let's remember what home ownership is all about. And let's look at the past ...

Steamboat Neighborhoods & Communities Steamboat Springs, nicknamed Ski Town U.S.A. offers a large ski area, great of the slope activities and a huge variety of terrain for everyone. The modern Steamboat resort slopeside development is three miles from the old cowboy town, which maintains a genuine feel while full to the brim with modern thriving shops (and a few old ones). In terms of après-ski pricing this is a very high value resort, thanks to the competition between businesses and the lack of pretentiousness, used as an excuse for higher prices at some other top Colorado resorts. Steamboat resort was purchased from previous Japanese owners in November 1997 by the American Skiing Company. Steamboat has one of the longest histories in North American and indeed world skiing history and ...

Steamboat Springs 98th Winter Carnival Click on the Video below to watch a spectacular video created by Steamboat Resorts of this year's 2011 98th Winter Carnival: The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) has maintained the Winter Carnival as a service to the community since 1914. The Winter Carnival started as a way to help residents cope with cabin fever during the height of the winter season. The event continues to this day as a way to celebrate winter; as a reason for neighbors to gather; and as an opportunity for everyone to experience a piece of Ski Town U.S.A history and tradition. This annual celebration includes a variety of events that embrace our western heritage and highlight Steamboat's tradition of winter sports. The festivities include such events as: Ski Jumping ...
