Know these guys?  Well you can enjoy them in Pueblo Colorado.  Country girl that I am, BLUEGRASS, is ROOTS and when performed by the ACKERMAN'S you'll be tapp'n your toe right along with the rest of us here at Colorado Western Real Estate. 1946 saw the birth of BLUEGRASS a new musical genre that generated as much excitement as the creation of rock'n roll would just a few years later. Today, led by Aaron Ackeramn, The Ackermans carry that same musical thrill forward into a new century. At a time when most top bluegrass bands are smooth, tight and virtuosic, The Ackermans retain some of the rugged, roughhewn dynamism, and emotional impact of traditional bluegrass to new audiences. From the moment they hit the stage until the moment they leave, the audience is going to be entertained! On...

The Pueblo Parade of Homes Industry Day(2008) went well despite the unusually cool weather. Thanks to Country Wide Home Loans (Diane Van Buskirk, Tammie Stratman, Aarron W, and Brian) who rented the 15+ people who attended a stretch limo from Pure Luxury Limousines.       We managed to see 14 of the 23 houses that were open. Houses ranged from the low $200's to the $900K range.  Some of the main themes were more open kitchens, theater rooms and outdoor living spaces.   IMHO:                           OAKWOOD Contruction  1305 Paseo Del Norte had the best presentation, in step with the season  $264,900 HARTLAND Homes 345 E. Bahia had the best theater and great house for the money $229,900 MESSNER Homes1060 W. El Nido had the best features including the bamboo floor and other green stuff ...

To: HB construction P.O. Box 3118 Pueblo, CO 81001 719 250 0995 I'd like to thank HB Construction for all of their assistance. You went Way beyond my expectations. I thought there was no way the insurance company was going to pay for a new roof. Thank you Garris, your two trips to my house to meet the insurance adjuster made all the difference. Your crew was very polite, clean and worked very hard and late into the day to get the job done. I appreciate your efforts and the efforts of your crew in getting the new roof up, on and complete as fast as they did. I'd be happy and pleased to refer your company to anybody, Sincerely, Dena Stevens Rockvale, CO

Colorado Western Real Estate was a proud sponsor of the Pueblo Outlaws 2008 High School Rodeo the weekend of April 26-27 2008. I have to admit I had no idea of what I was watching. No doubt the cowboys in Heaven were yelling down "get that blonde outta there!"    On more than one occasion I've remarked that I don't know one end of a cow from the other. My good friend George Souto will remind me that the end with the horns is the dangerous end, the other end is where we get milk.   The event was held at the Colorado State Fair Grounds in Pueblo CO. And in my opinion the cows being "cut" looked less than enthusiastic. Mostly it looked as if the high school kids were messing with their minds. And I was confused when it was announced that they would be bringing in "new" cows for the boys ev...

Every town in America probably has it's own food specialty, San Francisco is known for it's fish, Seattle for it's coffee, St. Louis for it's BBQ and Miami for it's Mojitos. In Pueblo we have Sloppers for lunch or dinner. Coors Tavern on 4th Street is said to have made the first one. How to Make a Slopper1 hamburger bun open on a plate2 cooked hamburger patties on top of the bunsFrench Fries laid on top of the patties1 - 1 ½ Cups of Green Chilli on top of friesChopped lettuce to coverCover with shredded cheddar cheeseServe hot and don't even think about the calories, just come for lunch in Pueblo

One of my goals is to someday figure out why so many people are golf crazy and maybe start golfing. Maybe it's the Tiger Woods factor, I don't know. But it seems like golf fever is just catching. And I'm told real estate deals get done on a golf course on a regular basis. So when an advertising company called me about sponsoring score cards I thought why not? Last year they promised me, for a price, that my ad with picture would be over the first hole on the score card and that I'd be the only Realtor. Not all turned out as planned. So this year they are promising me 2 years for the price of one and that I will be the only Realtor and be over hole #1. But I also wanted to follow the green trail. So I investigated our local Pueblo golf course and I learned that they are very ECO green! E...

Green Perfectionism and editorial commentThe green movement has been going for along time now. The recent up surg has been a healthy push forward for the ideas that have been around for awhile. Maybe it's a generational thing, each generation needs to think it's improving the situation - I don't know. It maybe a healthy thing for the environment to push the proverbial envelope. Have you noticed that no matter what you read, no matter how much research you do there is always a better method or idea on the horizon? For about two years I worked with and helped a local home builder plan a new subsidiary company to one he had started 40 years prior. His educational and intellectual back ground was environmental. Our plan and accomplishment was to develop three or four floor plans that were e...

For anyone who has read my blog for very long knows about the family I sold a house to summer of 2007. They purchased a beautiful house on the hill on Hatchet Ranch just south of Pueblo. If you missed the other posts click here and here. This Holiday Penny, Marshal and their family invited me to share their Thanksgiving dinner. Penny is a wonderful chef and we had a great day. But what will always stay in my mind is the very special turkey Penny cooked just for me. Thank you Chris Elizabeth for sharing your turkey recipe.Penny and Jason with "the bird"

The Professional bull riders have made their world wide head quarters on the Historic Arkansas River walk of Pueblo or HARP. Ty Murray was on hand and gave a speech to the hundreds in attendance, standing on Union Ave. The $11Million dollar building housing PBR sits on the River walk and is viable to every one who visits. The PBR says that bull riding is the toughest sport on dirt - and I believe them. If you are looking for property for your own bulls, give me a call. Southern Colorado has many ranches currently for sale and I'd love to show them to you!

Recently I had a client contact me about looking for property on Hatchet Ranch. Beth (found me on Active Rain) had seen the entrances from Interstate 25, and asked if I would show her some vacant land. Hatchet Ranch is made up mostly of 40 acres parcels, but a few are larger. The prices go from approx $1000 - $3500 an acre. Some parcels are more flat and are covered with wild grasses, some have rock out croppings and /or trees.  (Beth with two of the three dogs she brought with her. Meet Alou and Stella! We were at The Hatchet Ranch when I took this picture. Beth is not a tall person, but these are REALLY BIG DOGS! Alou and Stella were very well mannered and gentle.)                                                               Hatchet Ranch - If you are fortunate you may have the Green...

Every Friday night in July from 6 PM - 10 PM at the Sangre de Cristo Arts center in Pueblo is Festival Fridays. Local bands plays while people dance, eat and visit. The money from Festival Fridays goes to support the Sangre de Cristo art center and the Children's museum.     This is a great time to network, catch up with friends and enjoy an evening out in downtown Pueblo.

When my oldest son and I walk in the Relay for Life this weekend, we'll be wearing our brand-new t-shirts.  My son designed them for us, and it's becoming a tradition for us to create a new t-shirt for each year's Relay.  You probably know that the Relay for Life supports the American Cancer Society.  But did you also know that it's lots of fun? Here in Pueblo we relay on campus at CSU-Pueblo.  So it's a scenic walk among the trees, fountains, and campus hills.  If you're around on Friday evening, come on out and enjoy the music, the food, and the friends.  John and I will be manning the registration table for cancer survivors starting at 5:00.  Then after that, it's time to walk!  Come walk with us a while!  You'll recognize us by our shirts.
