Just because you are social distancing does not mean you are unable to stay social. You should not be hosting a dinner party, and you can’t get a cup of coffee with a friend since the coffee shops are not open, but luckily being social has evolved thanks to technology. We have been conducting all of our Highlands Ranch property management meetings over Zoom. Did you know Zoom is not just for virtual meetings, but virtual happy hours, virtual hang outs and virtual game nights? Sure you can call someone on the phone, but the video component adds a personal touch that we need right now. Bonus points for anyone who is clever and figures out a way to work in extra activities you might normally partake in with your friends and family. This can be anything from playing cards over your devices,...

Many people are finding social distancing mentally and emotionally draining, especially as we head into week 3 with no immediate end in sight. It is crucial to practice self-care during this time. Since we have not been going to our Highlands Ranch property management office, we have had to invent new ways to introduce some small bits of physical activity to the day. Staying at home each day runs counter to your physical health, so you must remember to engage in some form of exercise each day. Many people have had their gym routines obliterated, and it can be quite difficult to replicate your normal workout at home. You should try to get as close to it as possible, and if not, try to do new things out of your comfort zone. There are many free online classes that do 30 minute cardio exer...

Many teams are working online and beginning week 2 of their work from home schedules. Some companies are on week 3 and comfortably getting into the routine. Our Highlands Ranch property management office is closed physically, but we have not stopped working one day since the stay in place order.  Thankfully a majority of our business is possbile remotely. Those of you going into week 2 will need to stay healthy, hopefully and productive, and these tips should help you get into the swing of things. Companies on week 3 are largely in stride now, but it can’t hurt to stay connected to best practices while many change their daily life and schedule. The key word there is schedule. You need to keep your schedule no matter what. You need to create one if you have not already and you need to be...

As many of our followers probably know, we do a lot of reporting on various local events that happen each week. Our Highlands Ranch property management blog is mostly events happening in the various neighborhoods we work in. Now with social life on shutdown, events canceled and gatherings of more than 10 people causing raised eyebrows for anyone still having them, there is not much to report. Calendars are bare and the events that are lucky to get postponed have no makeup date in sight. Concerts are canceled or postponed, Red Rocks won’t re-open until mid-May, movie theaters are closed indefinitely, and most restaurants are offering takeaway but otherwise having no seating inside the building. For the foreseeable future we won’t have any events to blog about. We are hoping that when the...

In these truly unprecedented times where COVID-19 has mandated we all stay home and continue our work virtually, there are a few tips you can follow to make the most of the new situation. Our Highlands Ranch property management building has not closed yet, but we seem to be the last ones in the building. As we take the whole team online here are some of the steps we will take.First, you and your entire team need to download the Zoom virtual meetings app. You may have heard about Zoom as many companies are now facilitating their staff meetings using this program. It is a well made video conference app which can connect multiple people to the same call, with good quality video. We recommend getting all of your team onboard with this, as you will still be able to conduct all meetings, and ...

Everyone could use some good news and our Littleton property management office is no different. The best way to celebrate good news is to make an actual event to share it with one another and celebrate it with 500 like minded individuals. The Good News Breakfast celebrates these facts once a month, and there will be one coming up soon. The Good News Breakfast celebrates the positive values, happenings and local unsung heroes of Jefferson County. The motto is Not All Heroes Wear Capes and on display proudly are many people who fit that very description. This event will promote a sense of community and work hard to reaffirm and enhance spiritual values. There are a lot of good things happening in Jefferson County and they each deserve a spotlight on them. Volunteers from business, human s...

In the summer deadlines seem to creep up on every major milestone and every week.  Deadlines have a way of being ever present, in the background throughout the year.  We know all about deadlines in Highlands Ranch property management.  There are many from when someone is moving out, to moving in, to when a payment is due to when a security deposit should be returned.  When you have many deadlines colliding with one another you should always figure a best way to sort them out and focus on them, so none get missed.                 The trouble lies in when you must go into crunch mode and figure out a way to cram something at the last minute.  Working on all the toughest deadlines first allows you to create a much light work load towards the end of the deadlines.  You should have a routi...

Continuing snow in Littleton and Highlands Ranch has proven irksome for most of the residents in the south east metro area. The snow has affected us on a weekly basis now it seems. There have been several big snow storms one after another. It seems as soon as the sun comes out and starts to thaw the large piles of snow, then another snow storm comes in to greet the people. It seems as soon as you’ve shoveled, there requires another 30-minute session to keep the sidewalks and driveways clear. This has affected traffic in a significant way. When the storm rolls in ahead of the morning commute you can be sure there will be an adventure in order to get to your place of work. Last week there was a good 5-6 inches that fell before 7am.  Another thing that is revealed from this snow is how man...

Part of a sound business strategy in a new year is to work on your networking and expanding your service circles.  Attending leads group or social events can result in a lot of conversations.  In Highlands Ranch property management, we are always looking for the next vendor who may suite our needs or an owner looking to become an investor.  Most conversation will be natural and end up with an exchange of business cards.  Some may not be compatible with what you are looking for.  At some point in the conversation you will need to leave, whether to grab someone else’s attention, you need to keep moving around the room, or the conversation stalls and becomes boring.  Here are some ways to exit a conversation professionally.                The first step is to always have a...

Many clients and professionals in your fields will come to you for advice at some point in time.  Giving advice is nuanced, and can be very persuasive to who you give it to.  There are many things to consider before giving out advice.  In Highlands Ranch property management, many first time investors will be coming to us for advice on rental rates and market conditions.  Some homeowners are just curious how their house stands up to their neighbor, or if they can really get what John down the street got for his rent.  We treat everyone with an inquiry the same way.First we assess our local expertise on the matter.  There are a lot of news reports and articles with data that very confidently claim certain things.  Interpreting data is a skill of its own, and there are a ton of sweeping ge...

If you are interested in a seminar about how to get along with your fellow neighbor, friend, family member and fellow human being, then the Iliff’s Renewal Conference 2019 should scratch that itch.  From the event’s own description page, the description is as follows: “How do we lead in times of division? What are the issues of division that we face, where did they come from, and how do we speak into those spaces? Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of Iliff will gather to discuss, rest, and heal from issues facing our region, nation, and world. We will engage important topics, learn about new possibilities, eat great food, experience moving worship, hear about exciting new initiatives, and celebrate the highlights along the way.”The Iliff School of Theology is putting this on ...

Everyone works with different clients that have different needs.  Seasoned investors tend to be the easiest when they are picking up their third or fourth rental property.  First time buyers however, prove to be more of an obstacle.  Here are some simple ways to assess the top three hurdles and fears that a first time buyer brings to the table.                The main issue a first time buyer will bring to you is their inexperience.  They have obviously never been through the process before, so they underestimate how much is involved in the transaction from start to finish.  They usually think they know more than they do, which leads to unrealistic expectations.  Sometimes they misinterpret the climate of the market they enter.  This results in lowball offers, lost time dragging their f...

The return of the 21+ Glowga night at Highlands Ranch Southridge Rec Center is at the end of the month. On Saturday January 25, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm come by and experience this unique event. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite neon yoga clothes and come move to a mellow, rhythmic backlight vinyasa flow set to a unique playlist. The goal of the class is to practice in near darkness which makes your brain more cognizant of your surroundings and pushes your brain to rely on a heightened awareness from senses other than vision to process sensory information in order to stay balanced. This is an allure of the class, especially if you have not yet tried something like this. The neon and the other glow in the dark paint and black light items are just a visual flair to round out the ...
